KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight, a $14.99 team card game from the makers of Love Letter, comes out Oct. 2. Players back HUNTR/X or the Saja Boys.
Game night is about to get a lot louder.
KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight, an official card game based on the Netflix hit, comes out Friday, Oct. 2. It costs $14.99, according to publisher Asmodee’s online store.
The big choice: are you team HUNTR/X or team Saja Boys?
What is KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight?
It’s a quick, team-based card game from Z-Man Games, which is part of Asmodee. It runs on the rules of Love Letter, a popular card game that’s easy to learn and plays fast.
Z-Man’s announcement put it this way: “Grab your lightsticks and get ready to cheer on your favorite idols in this fast-paced game of bluffing, deduction, and clever card play!”
How do you play the KPop Demon Hunters card game?
Players split into teams and back either HUNTR/X, the demon-hunting girl group from the movie, or the Saja Boys, the demon boy band.
On each turn, you draw a card and play one. Every card shows a character from the movie with a special ability. You use those abilities to outsmart the other team and win over the crowd.
Z-Man says the game involves building “fan energy” and protecting or breaking the Honmoon, the magic barrier from the movie.
How many players can play Battle for the Spotlight?
Here are the basics, per Asmodee:
Players: 2 to 6
Ages: 8 and up
Play time: 15 minutes or less
Price: $14.99
The box includes 22 character cards, team reference cards, a contest board, cheer tokens and a draw bag.
Who made the KPop Demon Hunters card game?
Z-Man credits Seiji Kanai and Waleed Ma’arouf as the designers. Kanai is the Japanese designer who created the original Love Letter.
That’s a good sign if you’re a board game fan. Love Letter has been turned into a lot of licensed versions over the years, and it works because each round is short and full of little bluffs.
Where can I buy the KPop Demon Hunters card game?
It’s up for preorder at the Asmodee store online. It’s also listed at hobby game shops, and Z-Man first announced it back in June.
Since it’s only $14.99, it’s an easy stocking stuffer or birthday gift for a KPop Demon Hunters fan.
What other KPop Demon Hunters games are out?
It joins a few other game night tie-ins:
Monopoly Deal: KPop Demon Hunters from Hasbro, $12.99, out since January
UNO: KPop Demon Hunters from Mattel, $7.99, out since April, ICv2 reported
Kayou collectible cards, with a second series getting early access at New York Comic Con in October, BSC Kids reported
So between UNO, Monopoly Deal and now this, a fan could fill a whole game shelf.
Is there a KPop Demon Hunters 2?
Yes. Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation confirmed a sequel in March 2026, and directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans are coming back, Variety reported.
The catch: it’s aimed at 2029. So a 15-minute card game might have to hold fans over for a while.
Why is KPop Demon Hunters so popular?
The movie hit Netflix in June 2025 and went on to become Netflix’s most-watched movie ever. Its song “Golden” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
It’s about a K-pop girl group that secretly hunts demons, and a rival boy band that’s secretly made of demons. The music, the jokes and the characters made it a hit with kids and adults.
Now, those same fans get to argue about who wins at the kitchen table.
