KD x Solly’s Cream Soda, a limited-edition mac and cheese flavored cream soda from Kraft Heinz Canada, went on sale Sept. 23, 2026, on Amazon in Canada. It isn’t coming to the U.S.
Somebody at Kraft Heinz asked, “What if mac and cheese, but carbonated?” And then they actually made it.
KD x Solly’s Cream Soda is a cream soda with cheesy notes, made by Kraft Dinner and Toronto’s Solly’s Craft Soda. It went on sale Sept. 23 on Amazon in Canada, with Walmart and other Canadian stores following in early October.
It’s a limited edition, and it’s Canada-only. Americans will have to settle for eating their mac and cheese.
Which is fine by most of us.
What does the Kraft mac and cheese soda taste like?
The companies describe it as sweet and savory: cream soda with a cheesy edge.
Adin Wener, Solly’s founder, called the drink “wonderfully strange” in the announcement, and said that “somehow, it works.” He also called the project “an amazing challenge.”
Daniel Lundberg of Kraft Heinz called it “a whole new way for fans to experience their KD obsession.”
Nobody’s claiming it tastes exactly like a bowl of the blue box. The pitch is cream soda first, cheese second.
Why is it called KD?
Because in Canada, Kraft Dinner is basically a national food.
Americans know the blue box as Kraft Mac & Cheese. Canadians have called it Kraft Dinner, or just “KD,” for decades. It’s the same idea, sold under a different name up north.
That’s why this collab is a Canadian thing. The KD brand doesn’t exist in U.S. stores, so neither does this soda.
Can you buy KD cream soda in the U.S.?
Not from Kraft. Every retailer listed in the announcement is in Canada: Amazon Canada, Walmart Canada and other participating stores.
Dexerto put it bluntly in its headline: Kraft revealed the soda, “but Americans can’t get it.” There’s no official U.S. release.
How much does KD x Solly’s cream soda cost?
The announcement doesn’t say, and neither do the early reports. Quartz noted that the companies left out the price, the can size and the pack size.
That will probably get sorted out once it hits Walmart shelves in October. For now, the Amazon Canada listing is the place to check.
It’s also a limited edition, “while quantities last,” per the release. So if you’re in Canada and curious, don’t count on it sticking around.
Who makes Solly’s Craft Soda?
Solly’s is an independent Canadian soda company founded by Toronto entrepreneur Adin Wener. He named it after his son, Solomon.
The brand makes craft sodas with real cane sugar, and its cans run about 45 calories each with added fiber, per the announcement. That’s a lot lighter than a regular soda, cheese flavor or not.
So this soda comes from a small brand that already likes being a little different. Pairing up with the biggest pantry brand in Canada is one way to get noticed.
Is this the first mac and cheese drink?
Kraft Heinz calls it a first-of-its-kind drink. It’s not the brand’s first weird dessert-aisle move, though.
Back in 2021, Kraft Mac & Cheese teamed up with Van Leeuwen on a mac and cheese ice cream in the U.S. It sold out fast and got people talking for weeks. The soda has had the same effect, showing up all over food sites since it dropped.
Whether anyone buys a second can is up to Canada. The rest of us get to wonder.
