Krispy Kreme is handing out a free Original Glazed doughnut on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to anyone who says they voted or shows an I Voted sticker. Here’s how it works and the fine print.
Election Day is a long one no matter who you’re voting for, and Krispy Kreme wants to hand you a snack for the trouble. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, guests at participating U.S. Krispy Kreme shops can get one free Original Glazed doughnut just by saying they voted or showing an “I Voted” sticker.
No purchase is needed, according to the company’s announcement on Monday. That’s it. Vote, walk in, get a doughnut. Krispy Kreme isn’t asking who you voted for, and neither are we.
How do you get the free Krispy Kreme doughnut?
Here’s how it works, based on Krispy Kreme’s release:
Go to a participating Krispy Kreme shop in the U.S. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Tell the team you voted, or show your “I Voted” sticker.
Get one free Original Glazed doughnut, no purchase necessary.
The deal is limited to one doughnut per guest, while supplies last. The release only talks about visiting a shop. It doesn’t say anything about drive-thru, delivery or app orders, so if you’re planning to grab yours through the drive-thru window, call your local shop first. And if you voted early or by mail, the offer only asks that you say you voted, so you’re covered.
What did Krispy Kreme say about the Election Day deal?
Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer, framed it as a thank-you for showing up. “Showing up for our communities, whether by voting or volunteering at the polls, is worth celebrating,” Holder said in the release. “We’re happy to make Election Day a little sweeter by sharing a free Original Glazed doughnut with participating guests.”
That “volunteering at the polls” line is a nice touch. Poll workers put in some of the longest days of anyone on Election Day, and a warm doughnut at 7 p.m. probably hits different. The official terms don’t spell out a separate poll worker deal, though, so it’s the same one doughnut.
Has Krispy Kreme done this before?
Yes. Sporked reports that Krispy Kreme ran a similar free doughnut offer on Election Day in 2020, 2022 and 2024. CNN covered the 2020 version, when the chain gave away doughnuts and “I Voted” stickers.
This year’s offer is a little more direct about asking guests to say they voted or show a sticker, Sporked noted. Either way, it’s become a tradition for the chain every two years.
Is the Hot Light on today?
The Hot Light is Krispy Kreme’s famous neon sign that tells you doughnuts are coming off the line fresh. If you can time your post-voting stop with the light on, you’ll get your Original Glazed warm, which is honestly the best way to eat one.
Hot Light times vary by shop. The Krispy Kreme app and website show which locations near you have the light on, so check before you head out.
What other Krispy Kreme deals ran this fall?
Krispy Kreme has been busy with limited-time stuff lately. In October alone, according to the company’s news page, it ran:
A Looney Tunes Lab Dozen for $13, Oct. 13 to 15
A Taz Chocolate Original Glazed Dozen, Oct. 20 to 22
An All Jacked Up Dozen with orange-dough Original Glazed doughnuts for $13
Deal sites also reported a free doughnut for guests in costume on Oct. 30 and 31 for Halloween. So if it feels like Krispy Kreme is giving away doughnuts every few days, that’s because it kind of is.
Is National Sandwich Day also on Nov. 3?
It is. National Sandwich Day falls on Nov. 3 every year, so it lands on Election Day this time around. Sporked reports that Subway moved its own National Sandwich Day celebration to the week before to line up with some returning limited-time items.
Other chains often run sandwich deals through their apps on Nov. 3, so it’s worth a peek at whatever app you already have on your phone.
Where is Krispy Kreme based?
Krispy Kreme started in 1937 in Winston-Salem, N.C., and is now based in Charlotte. The company says it operates in more than 40 countries, through its own shops, grocery and convenience store partners and online ordering. It trades on Nasdaq under the ticker DNUT.
A free doughnut won’t shorten the line at your polling place, but it makes a nice reward at the end of the errand. Vote, grab your sticker and treat yourself to something glazed.
