Bugs Bunny as a vampire, Taz as a mummy and Tweety and Sylvester as a pumpkin: Krispy Kreme’s first Looney Tunes doughnut collection hits U.S. shops Tuesday, Oct. 6, for a limited time.
Krispy Kreme is putting Bugs Bunny in fangs.
The doughnut chain’s first-ever Looney Tunes collection, made with Warner Bros., arrives at participating U.S. shops on Tuesday, Oct. 6. There are four doughnuts, each one a different character dressed up for Halloween.
“Looney Tunes characters have entertained generations of fans with their fun, laughter and mischief,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer. Now they get to be dessert.
What’s in Krispy Kreme’s Looney Tunes Halloween collection?
Four doughnuts, and each one comes with its own sugar topper of the character in costume.
Bugs Bunny Vampire is an unglazed shell filled with chocolate dulce Kreme, then dipped in red dulce icing with chocolate drizzles and bat sprinkles. A vampire Bugs sits on top.
Tweety and Sylvester Pumpkin is an Original Glazed doughnut dipped in candy corn icing and covered in confetti sprinkles. The cat and the bird share one topper, which seems generous of Sylvester.
Taz Mummy is the heavy hitter. It’s an unglazed shell filled with OREO cookies and Kreme, topped with chocolate icing, OREO pieces and green icing drizzles.
Lola Bunny gets an Original Glazed doughnut with a purple buttercreme swirl and gold stars.
When and where can you get the Looney Tunes doughnuts?
The collection launches Oct. 6 at participating Krispy Kreme shops across the U.S. You can also order it for delivery through the Krispy Kreme app and website.
Some of the doughnuts will show up in six-packs at select grocery stores, too, though Krispy Kreme didn’t say which ones or which stores.
It’s a limited-time run with no end date announced. Krispy Kreme hasn’t released prices either, and those usually vary by shop. If you want all four, don’t wait until the week of Halloween.
The Taz doughnut is also an OREO doughnut
Look closely at the lineup and one doughnut is pulling double duty. Taz’s mummy is built around OREO, which makes it a two-brand doughnut inside a one-brand collection.
It fits the character. Taz eats everything in sight, so of course his doughnut has cookies stuffed in it.
How old are Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes gang?
The brand is older than the doughnut shop. Bugs isn’t.
Looney Tunes started in 1930, and Krispy Kreme opened in 1937. Bugs Bunny made his official debut three years after that, in A Wild Hare in 1940.
That puts the Looney Tunes brand at 96 years old and Krispy Kreme at 89.
The rest of the lineup spans decades. Tweety first showed up in 1942, Sylvester in 1945 and Taz in 1954.
Lola Bunny is the baby of the group. She debuted in Space Jam in 1996, 42 years after Taz.
Looney Tunes’ owner changes hands the same day
The timing is a coincidence, but it’s a big one.
Looney Tunes belongs to Warner Bros., and Warner Bros. Discovery’s merger with Paramount Skydance is set to close on Tuesday, Oct. 6, the same day these doughnuts launch. The combined company will be called Skydance Corp., with David Ellison as CEO.
So Bugs Bunny wakes up Tuesday with a new corporate parent and his face on a vampire doughnut. Rough morning, or a great one.
Krispy Kreme Halloween doughnuts and the season’s other character drops
Character collabs have been everywhere this fall. Taco Bell is pairing up with Duolingo for National Taco Day, and Starbucks just confirmed its Bearista is coming back for the holidays.
Krispy Kreme’s is the most Halloween of the bunch. A vampire, a mummy, a pumpkin and a bunny under gold stars, all on doughnuts you can buy by the dozen.
Just know which box to hand the Taz fan in your house. His is the one with the cookies in it, and he’s not famous for sharing.
