Lay’s has two new limited-edition holiday chips, Cheddar Scalloped Style Potatoes and Roasted Holiday Turkey. Both are already listed at grocery stores, just in time for Thanksgiving.
Your Thanksgiving plate is turning into a bag of chips.
Lay’s has two new holiday flavors on the way: Cheddar Scalloped Style Potatoes and Roasted Holiday Turkey, according to Sporked. Snack account @candyhunting first shared the news.
Both chips are already listed on grocery store websites, so they could start showing up on shelves any day now.
What are the new Lay’s holiday flavors?
Two classic holiday dishes. One tastes like cheesy scalloped potatoes, and the other tastes like roast turkey with gravy.
The gift and gadget site The Green Head describes them as limited-edition seasonal chips with “savory roasted turkey and gravy“ and “creamy, cheesy scalloped potato“ flavors.
Some listings call the cheesy one Holiday Cheddar Scalloped Potato, so watch for either name on the bag.
Where can you buy Lay’s Roasted Holiday Turkey chips?
Look at big grocery chains first. Albertsons-owned stores, including Pavilions, Randalls, Haggen and Star Market, list a 7.75-ounce bag of Roasted Holiday Turkey online.
A smaller 2.5-ounce bag also shows up on 7-Eleven’s delivery app.
Walmart has links online, but they currently list them as “out of stock”. Keep checking local stores.
Lay’s hasn’t announced prices. Availability can vary by store, so check your local store’s app before you make a special trip.
Which Lay’s holiday flavor are fans more excited about?
The scalloped potatoes, by a lot. The @candyhunting post drew a flood of excited comments about the cheddar flavor, Sporked reported.
The turkey flavor got a quieter response. One commenter pointed out that Lay’s meat-flavored chips can sometimes be a letdown.
Are the Lay’s holiday chips limited edition?
Yes.
Lay’s hasn’t said how long they’ll stay in stores. Holiday snacks usually stick around through the end of the year, but popular ones can sell out early.
How many new flavors has Lay’s released this year?
A lot.
Lay’s dropped well over a dozen new flavors for the World Cup this year.
It followed those up with a barbecue brisket flavor in August and a Magic Masala flavor in September.
Back in January, Lay’s also added Roasted Garlic and Herb and Loaded Baked Potato to its Baked Lay’s lineup.
Who makes Lay’s chips?
Frito-Lay, which is owned by PepsiCo. Lay’s has been around for more than 75 years, according to its Pavilions listing.
The brand is famous for trying wild flavors. Its long-running Do Us a Flavor contest let fans pitch ideas, and some of the winners went on to become real chips.
What other holiday snacks are coming this year?
Plenty. Brands are already rolling out holiday flavors, even with Halloween still a couple of weeks away.
Oreo is releasing Candy Cane Oreo Puffs cereal in November, with chocolatey puffs and peppermint marshmallows. A 10-ounce box has a suggested price of $4.99.
Lay’s flavors lean savory instead of sweet, which makes them a nice break from all the peppermint and pumpkin spice on store shelves this time of year.
What do the Lay’s holiday chips go with?
Pretty much anything on a holiday snack table. The scalloped potato chips could pair well with a sandwich made from leftover turkey.
The turkey chips might be fun crushed over a casserole for a crunchy topping. Or just set out both bags at your Friendsgiving and let your guests pick a side.
