Star Wars Kids posted the whole LEGO Star Wars Halloween special on YouTube on Oct. 1, five years after it hit Disney+. See the plot, the voice cast and the horror movies it spoofs.
Darth Vader’s haunted castle is open to everybody this Halloween. No Disney+ login needed.
The official Star Wars Kids YouTube channel posted the full LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales special on Oct. 1, 2026. That’s five years to the day after it premiered on Disney+.
It runs about 45 minutes. In that time you get Poe Dameron, BB-8, a greedy Hutt, Darth Vader and three spooky stories pulled from every era of Star Wars.
Here’s the whole special:
What is LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales about?
It’s set after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” according to StarWars.com. Poe Dameron and BB-8 make an emergency landing on Mustafar, the lava planet where Darth Vader’s castle sits.
There, they meet Graballa the Hutt. He bought Vader’s castle and is turning it into “the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel,” StarWars.com said.
While his X-wing gets fixed, Poe heads into the castle with BB-8, Graballa, a young mechanic named Dean and Vader’s loyal servant, Vanee. Vanee tells them three creepy stories tied to ancient artifacts and famous Star Wars villains.
He also has a sinister plan of his own. With Dean’s help, Poe and BB-8 have to face their fears and stop it.
Who is in the LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales voice cast?
Here’s the main cast, according to StarWars.com and Animation World Network:
Jake Green as Poe Dameron
Raphael Alejandro as Dean
Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt
Tony Hale as Vanee
Christian Slater as Ren
Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8
Matt Sloan as Darth Vader
Sam Witwer voices Darth Maul, too, SYFY Wire noted.
Hale played Buster on “Arrested Development.” Director Ken Cunningham said Hale moved around a lot while recording his lines.
“Watching him in the record, the way he physicalizes things, that really informed a lot of the way we approached [Vanee] in animation,” Cunningham told StarWars.com.
Slater got his part for a very ’80s reason. Ren’s story spoofs “The Lost Boys,” so the producers wanted someone who brought the feel of that era with him.
“So we asked ourselves, ‘Who’s a great ’80s icon?’” executive producer Josh Rimes said.
What are the three stories in Terrifying Tales?
Each of Vanee’s stories comes from a different era of Star Wars, and each one riffs on a classic horror tale, StarWars.com reported.
“The Lost Boy”: Ben Solo falls in with Ren and his Knights of Ren, in a spoof of “The Lost Boys.” It even has a big saxophone solo, SYFY Wire noted.
“Duel of the Monstrosities”: Darth Maul and General Grievous race to find an ancient lightsaber, in a play on “Frankenstein.”
“The Wookiee’s Paw”: Luke Skywalker joins the Empire, in a spin on “The Monkey’s Paw” with a little “Twilight Zone” mixed in.
Executive producer Jason Cosler of the LEGO Group said the team agreed on those spoofs fast. “It didn’t take long for us to agree on what each of the three sub-stories should pay homage to given the characters we are using,” he told StarWars.com.
The Luke story came first. “The Monkey’s Paw is such a classic tale, and it was fun going, ‘Oh, we can do a Star Wars spin on that?’” writer David Shayne told SYFY Wire.
Who is Vanee in Star Wars?
He’s not a brand-new character.
Vanee first showed up briefly in “Rogue One,” Rimes told SYFY Wire. He got a bigger role later in IDW’s “Tales from Vader’s Castle” kids’ comics, written by Cavan Scott.
The team wanted a storyteller like the Crypt Keeper, and they “landed on Vanee very quickly,” Rimes said. Vader’s castle made the perfect spooky setting, too.
“The black and the orange of the lava feels so Halloween,” Rimes said.
Is LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales too scary for kids?
Mostly no, and that’s on purpose. It’s rated TV-Y7-FV on Disney+.
“I think kids like to be scared a little bit! Once they realize there’s nothing to be scared of, it becomes kind of fun,” Cosler told StarWars.com.
Cunningham used his own daughter as a test audience. “I’ve got an 11-year-old daughter who’s sensitive to stuff, so for me, that’s kind of always my gauge,” he said in 2021.
Why did Lucasfilm make a Star Wars Halloween special?
Because the first LEGO special worked.
“The idea to do a Halloween special sprung directly from the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special and all the success that came of that on Disney+,” Rimes told StarWars.com.
The team pulled ideas from “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” the “Treehouse of Horror” episodes of “The Simpsons” and “Tales from the Crypt,” StarWars.com reported.
Cunningham, who also directed the Holiday Special, grew up on Star Wars and horror movies.
“I was 10 when Star Wars came out. I probably saw it in the theater 20 times,” he said. He was a teenager in the ’80s, and he said “The Lost Boys” and “Poltergeist” were big for him.

Where can you watch LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales?
You’ve got two options. It’s streaming on Disney+, according to JustWatch. And the full special is free on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel.
What other LEGO Star Wars specials are there?
Terrifying Tales was the second LEGO Star Wars special made for Disney+, after the 2020 Holiday Special, SYFY Wire noted. More have followed:
LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation (2022)
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy (2024), a Disney+ series
LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian (2026), which hit Disney+ on Sept. 2 and retells all three seasons of “The Mandalorian” in bricks
What are some fun facts about LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales?
Vader’s kiss came from the recording booth. In the Luke story, Vader kisses Luke on the head and says, “For luck.” Shayne told SYFY Wire the voice director came up with it during a recording session, and it’s his “absolute favorite moment” in the special.
The Hutt is a returning character. Graballa first appeared in “LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures” on Disney XD, Rimes said.
A vampire movie inspired the look. Cunningham told his art director, Kevin Chai, “Dude, you’ve got to watch Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
It was meant to be a yearly tradition. “We hope this becomes a perennial event on Disney+, where families can get together every Halloween and watch this,” Rimes told StarWars.com.
