Lilo & Stitch Director Tried To Make Pleakley More Animation Accurate
Lilo & Stitch director Dean Fleischer Camp tried to put Pleakley in a dress to make the character more accurate to the animated film, but Disney denied it.
Pleakley appeared dressed as a woman in his human disguise in the original animated film, and shows….and no one really cared all that much. Now Disney must be afraid of pushback all around, and they decided not to allow him to wear a dress.
In the new version, Pleakley, played by Billy Magnussen, and Jumba, played by Zach Galifianakis, are shown in male human form.
But the director did try.
In a TikTok video, he is shown answering comments and questions from fans.

The last question/comment he answered was someone who said “How dare they ruin Pleakley’s disguise like that.”
In the video, Dean Fleischer Camp shows concept art indicating that he did indeed try to follow the original film.
Now it’s become a big point of contention for some fans.
Here are some of the comments on the video; many appreciate that he tried.
“Baby when he said he tried, he means Disney said no. Given the political climate - its not shocking Disney wanted no part. Sad, but I won’t blame the director. Ill blame Disney.” - Collin
”FIX PLEAKLEY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. THEY FIXED SONIC YOU CAN FIX AUNTIE PLEAKLEY”- bakedbees
“My comments here to hate on the fact they turned Pleakley into a human. They should have remained aliens with silly disguises. I fear the CGI costs would have been worth it.” - NoobMmaster69
“WE WANT OG PLEAKLEY”- Addy Moretti
“i'm glad to hear you tried but still really disappointed in the decision”- NightKrowe
“At least we go confirmation they they tried” - Jordy

“Give Pleakley the dress and wig! It looks so good!” -Jen
I am looking forward to the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” film, but I do wish they kept Pleakley as is. The look was always part of the character.
