The new Star Wars mini backpack hides Han Solo in carbonite on the back. A Boba Fett sling with a tiny helmet charm joined it, too.
Loungefly just went full Return of the Jedi.
Two new Star Wars Loungefly bags are out now on Loungefly’s website: a Boushh Disguise Cosplay Mini Backpack for $90 and a Boba Fett Cosplay Sling Crossbody Bag for $65, WDW News Today reported.
Both are bounty hunter themed. One of them just happens to be Princess Leia in disguise.
What does the Boushh Loungefly backpack look like?
It’s styled after the bounty hunter outfit Leia wears to sneak into Jabba’s palace at the start of Return of the Jedi.
The front is brown and tan with green accents, plus a gray diagonal strap with mechanical details and white scuff marks for that worn-in, been-to-Tatooine look. It has two zippered front pockets, brown shoulder straps and a matching top handle.
The best part is the back. It has a little Han Solo frozen in carbonite, which is exactly who Leia was there to rescue.
Loungefly lists the bag at 9 inches wide, 10.5 inches tall and 4.5 inches deep, with quilted and padded appliques, tinted vinyl and metallic trim.
What does the Boba Fett Loungefly sling look like?
The Boba Fett Cosplay Sling Crossbody Bag is green, red and black, inspired by Boba’s armor.
A silver Boba Fett helmet charm hangs off the side, and the brown adjustable strap reads “BOBA FETT” in green and black. The back is black with white outlines and a Star Wars Loungefly logo patch.
At $65, it’s the cheaper pick, and the sling style is handy for theme park days when you want your hands free.
Where can you buy the new Star Wars Loungefly bags?
Both are on loungefly.com now. Loungefly bags often show up at other retailers later, but these launched on the brand’s own site first.
Loungefly releases don’t always restock once they’re gone. If you want the Boushh bag for a Galaxy’s Edge trip or a holiday gift, it’s smart not to wait too long.
Who is Boushh in Star Wars?
Boushh is an Ubese bounty hunter whose identity Leia borrows in Return of the Jedi (1983). Wearing the mask and voice changer, she walks into Jabba’s palace with a captured Chewbacca and a thermal detonator, then frees Han from carbonite.
It’s one of the most famous disguises in the saga, and a favorite costume for Star Wars fans at conventions and Disney parks.
When did Boba Fett first appear?
Not in a movie. Boba Fett’s first on-screen appearance was in an animated segment of the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, two years before he showed up in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980.
So a Boba Fett bag released right before the holidays is a nice little callback, whether Loungefly meant it or not.
What else is going on with Star Wars right now?
Star Wars is gearing up for its 50th anniversary. A newly restored version of the original 1977 Star Wars returns to theaters on Feb. 19, 2027, and ESPN and Disney+ are bringing Star Wars to Super Bowl LXI with an animated Star Wars Funday Football telecast on Feb. 14.
Expect a lot more Star Wars merch between now and then, too. Anniversaries are when Loungefly, shopDisney and the parks tend to go all in.
Who makes Loungefly bags?
Loungefly is owned by Funko, the company behind Funko Pop! figures, which bought the brand in 2017. It’s best known for its mini backpacks, and Disney and Star Wars designs are some of its biggest sellers with theme park fans.
The cosplay line is a fan favorite because each bag is built to look like a character’s outfit. Boushh and Boba Fett join a Star Wars lineup that has covered plenty of heroes, villains and droids over the years.
