Mars put Buddy the Elf, Ralphie and Clark Griswold on six limited-edition M&M's Holiday Blend bags. Buy three in one trip by Dec. 31 and you can get one of the movies from Fandango.
M&M's has wrapped its red-and-green Holiday Blend in three Christmas movies. Mars and Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products put Elf, A Christmas Story and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on six limited-edition bags, Parade reported Nov. 2.
The candy inside is the usual Holiday Blend, in milk chocolate and peanut. Southern Living reported the bags are 10 ounces. The art features Buddy the Elf, Ralphie and Clark Griswold.
Mars is also running a movie deal. Buy three participating bags in one transaction by Dec. 31, upload the receipt, and you get a code for a digital copy of one of the three movies through Fandango.
On the peanut Elf bag pictured by trade outlet Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, Yellow wears an elf hat inside an old tube TV next to the Elf logo. A banner below reads "cue up the classics" beside a QR code.
"One of the greatest joys of the holidays is making memories together," said Allison Miazga-Bedrick, Mars Snacking's vice president of marketing for the seasonal portfolio. She said the bags bring the "nostalgia of these iconic holiday films to the snack aisle."

How does the M&M's Fandango movie deal work?
Parade laid out the rules:
Dates: Nov. 1 through Dec. 31
Buy: Three participating Holiday Blend packs in a single transaction
Claim: Upload a photo of the receipt at activaterewards.com/mmsholiday. Once it's approved, you get a promo code.
Reward: A digital copy of Elf, A Christmas Story or National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation to stream or download. You need a free Fandango account, but no subscription.
Limits: One reward per receipt and up to three codes per household. U.S. residents only, while supplies last.
Deadline: Redeem the code by Jan. 31, 2027.
Three codes per household means one family could collect all three movies with nine bags. That's a lot of red and green, but cookie season is coming.
How much do the M&M's holiday movie bags cost?
Mars says prices and pack availability vary by retailer.
For a ballpark, Target's website listed a 10-ounce bag of red-and-green peanut M&M's at $5.19 on Nov. 7. The listing doesn't say which design ships. At that price, three bags for the movie deal run about $15.57 before tax.
Where can you buy the M&M's holiday movie bags?
At retailers nationwide while supplies last, according to Mars. The company hasn't named specific chains.
Only participating packs count toward the movie code, Parade reported, so look for the movie art on the front before you head to the register.
Last year's lineup also had a peanut butter Holiday Blend. The movie bags announced so far come in milk chocolate and peanut only.
Which movies are on the M&M's bags, and are they family friendly?
All three are Warner Bros. titles, which explains the partner. Here's a quick guide for movie night:
Elf (2003): A human raised by Santa's elves heads to New York to find his dad. Rated PG.
A Christmas Story (1983): Ralphie spends the holiday season chasing one very specific gift. Rated PG.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989): Clark Griswold tries to throw the perfect family Christmas, and almost everything goes wrong. Rated PG-13, so parents of younger kids may want to preview it first.
If you already own all three, the deal still gets you candy. Nobody's complaining.
What other M&M's packs are in stores this season?
Disney fans have another option. The M&M's Marvel packs are rolling out, too, with Red dressed as Deadpool and Yellow as Wolverine. Mars timed those to Avengers: Doomsday, which opens Dec. 18, and its sweepstakes prizes include a Disney Cruise Line trip.
Elf is all over the holiday aisle this year, too. General Mills has an Elf cereal lineup led by Maple Syrup Chex, and Jakks Pacific is bringing Buddy the Elf and Jovie dolls to Walmart.
