A multistory building rising behind Adventureland is now visible from Magic Kingdom’s Swiss Family Treehouse. Disney hasn’t said what it is, but reports point to parade support.
A massive building under construction backstage at Magic Kingdom is now easy to spot from the Swiss Family Treehouse, Attractions Magazine reported Thursday. Writer Dani Meyering saw the steel-framed structure from the treehouse’s upper walkways on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Disney has not said what the building is. Records and reports point to a new support facility for the park, likely tied to parades. It does not appear to be part of Villains Land or Piston Peak National Park.
What is the building behind Swiss Family Treehouse?
Officially, nobody outside Disney knows yet. Attractions Magazine says, “Disney has not officially confirmed the building’s intended purpose.”
There is one official clue. BlogMickey reported in September that local district records call the site “MK Park 3 Support Building.” That’s the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, which handles building in Disney World. That name tells you it’s backstage support space. It does not say for what.
Attractions Magazine describes exposed steel framing, tall wall sections and crews at work. From the treehouse, the building towers over the trees beyond Adventureland.
Where is the new Magic Kingdom building?
BlogMickey places it behind Pirates of the Caribbean. It sits next to an existing parade warehouse west of Adventureland.
The site backs up to a backstage canal. That’s where the pontoons for the Electrical Water Pageant are staged, according to BlogMickey. Disney Performing Arts used the site before construction started.
BlogMickey first reported on the project Sept. 21. At that point, steel already rose several stories. A tall precast concrete column suggested an elevator shaft.
Is it part of Villains Land or Piston Peak?
Probably not. Attractions Magazine says the building’s size first made it think of Villains Land.
But aerial photos from bioreconstruct, who flies over the parks often, say otherwise. Attractions Magazine says those images show “a separate backstage construction project behind Adventureland.”
BlogMickey had floated a possible link to Piston Peak and Villains Land in September. It also noted those areas are not especially close to the site.
What Magic Kingdom expansions has Disney confirmed?
Here’s what Disney has actually announced for this corner of the park:
Piston Peak National Park: A Cars-themed area replacing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Disney calls it the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history. At D23 in August, Disney showed two rides: Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along and Cars Ridge Run Rally.
Villains Land: The first theme park land built around Disney Villains. It gets two big rides, a Maleficent coaster and a Magic Mirror dark ride.
The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat closed for good on July 7, 2025, to make room. Disney has not announced opening dates for either land.
None of those announcements mention a new backstage building behind Adventureland.
Is it a new parade building?
That’s the leading theory, and it’s still unconfirmed. BlogMickey reported in September, citing unnamed sources, that the building could become a new parade support facility.
According to that report, it could hold rehearsal space, offices and areas for cast members. Attractions Magazine repeated the report and stressed that Disney has not confirmed it.
The location fits. The building sits right beside the parade warehouse. Magic Kingdom also added a big nighttime parade, Disney Starlight, in 2025.
Did Disney file permits for the building?
We could not find a news report of a building permit for this structure. Attractions Magazine cites none.
The only official paperwork reported so far is that district listing, per BlogMickey.
Magic Kingdom’s parade backstage has needed more room before. WDWMagic reported in January 2025 that Disney filed a permit for work on the park’s Parade Storage Building. That building sits behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and holds parade floats when they’re not on Main Street.
WDWMagic said at the time that the work might be linked to Disney Starlight, but that the link was not confirmed.
Can guests see the construction?
Yes. Climb the Swiss Family Treehouse and look out from the upper walkways. Attractions Magazine says the building is visible from there.
Don’t expect a big reveal. Backstage buildings rarely get one, and Disney may never talk about this one at all. If it does turn out to be a parade hub, the payoff for guests would show up in the parades on Main Street.
