Basic embroidery at Curtain Call Collectibles now costs $3 more per line, and the thread colors got cut down too. It’s one more October price increase at Disney World.
Getting your name stitched on a pair of Mickey ears just got pricier.
Basic embroidery at Curtain Call Collectibles in Magic Kingdom now costs $7.99 a line, up from $4.99, WDW News Today reported. WDWNT spotted the new prices on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
That’s a 60% jump for the cheapest option. Disney is squeezing every penny out of everything they can think of. As a shareholder, that sounds to me like desperation.
The color choices shrank, too.
Here’s a look at the custom ears at Magic Kingdom from Disney Living Forever, posted in March, before the price change:
How much is embroidery at Magic Kingdom now?
Every tier went up. Here are the new prices per line, according to WDW News Today:
Basic: $7.99, up from $4.99
Premium: $9.99, up from $7.99
Deluxe: $11.99, up from $9.99
Basic took the biggest hit, at $3 more per line. Premium and deluxe each went up $2.
The good news, if you can call it that, is the pricing is per line, not per letter. A long name costs the same as a short one.
What embroidery colors are available at Magic Kingdom?
Fewer than before. Basic embroidery used to come in white, gold and pink, WDWNT reported. Now it’s white, gold and black.
Premium embroidery used to offer a long list of colors, including cotton candy, bronze and silver. Now there are eight choices: white, gold, black, green, blue, purple, pink and red.
WDWNT also shared a photo of the old embroidery and font choices for comparison.
Where is Curtain Call Collectibles?
On Main Street, U.S.A., at the front of Magic Kingdom, WDW News Today noted. Guests can get custom embroidery on hats, bags and more around Disney World, and Curtain Call is one of the Magic Kingdom shops that does it.
How much do Mickey ears cost at Disney World now?
$38.99 for standard Mickey and Minnie ear headbands, up from $36.99, WDW News Today reported on Oct. 6, as we covered last week.
Put the two increases together, and a pair of standard ears with one line of basic embroidery now costs $46.98 before tax. Last month, the same pair cost $41.98.
For a family of four in matching personalized ears, that’s $187.92, or $20 more than a month ago.
Specialty ears cost more. BaubleBar’s Disney ears were $44.99 on Disney Store last week, and a Loungefly balloon pair was $46.99, as we reported.
Spirit Jerseys went up, too, from $79.99 to $84.99 at Disney World, MickeyBlog reported.
The ear and jersey bumps rolled in with Disney’s yearly round of October price increases.
What else went up at Disney World this month?
A lot. Disney World has raised prices on character dining, buffets, annual passes, food and drinks and more this month, WDW News Today noted.
A few of the changes we’ve tracked:
Lightning Lane: Disney said on Oct. 6 that the top price for Lightning Lane Premier Pass is going up $50 at every park. Single Pass hits a record $25 for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run on Nov. 1, up from old highs of $22 and $23.
Tickets: the peak one-day ticket for the 2027 holidays now tops out at $229.
Passholder perks: Annual Passholders can no longer use their merchandise discount on bottled drinks in shops, starting Oct. 6.
Blaze Pizza: a build-your-own pizza at the Disney Springs location went from $11.95 to $13.50, WDWNT reported on Oct. 15.
Can you save on Disney ears right now?
A little, if you shop online. Disney Store raised its standard ears to $38.99 first, in late September, before the parks caught up, as we reported.
Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can take 20% off at DisneyStore.com with code WDW20 through Oct. 25. Everyone else can take 25% off orders of $125 or more with code SAVEMORE through Sunday, Oct. 18, MickeyBlog reported.
Neither code helps at the Main Street embroidery counter, though.
Maximilians of the world, at least you’re not paying by the letter.
