Six Flags Magic Mountain is running Fright Fest on select nights through Nov. 1, and the headline addition is a maze where the antagonist is death.
Final Destination: Death’s Playground is new for 2026, built on the licensed film franchise where characters escape one disaster only to be hunted by fate itself. It replaces Condemned, a long-running maze at the Valencia park.
What are the new mazes at Fright Fest 2026?
Two, and the second one is original rather than licensed.
Wolves’ Blood is a werewolf maze designed by Gus Krueger, who built mazes at Knott’s Scary Farm. It runs through a reimagined warehouse space and features an underground rock band, which is an unusual structure for a haunt.
Original mazes have become rarer as parks lean on film licenses, so a park adding one alongside a major IP maze in the same year is notable.
What mazes are returning?
Five, and one of them is effectively new.
The Conjuring Universe maze was rebuilt from the ground up with more characters, which is a bigger commitment than the usual refresh. Trick ‘r Treat moved into the former Saw maze location. Carnage presented by M&M’S, Vault: 666 Unlocked and Willoughby’s: Resurrected all return with updates.
That puts the total at seven mazes.
How much does Fright Fest cost at Magic Mountain?
The mazes are not included with park admission.
A separate Haunted Attractions Pass starts at $25 for a single night, or $69 for a season pass covering the whole run. Regular admission covers the scare zones, the shows and the rides.
That split catches families every year. A household that buys tickets expecting a haunt night and then discovers the mazes cost more is a recurring complaint at every Six Flags park running this event.
What else is at Fright Fest besides mazes?
Seven scare zones, all returning with enhancements: Devil’s Triangle, City Under Siege, Thunderbolt Alley, Nightmares: Reign of Blood, Underworlds of Oz, Plaza de la Muerte and Exile Hill.
Those are included with admission, which makes them the value proposition for anyone skipping the maze pass.
The show lineup has changed more than usual. Unleashed, the opening scaremony, moved to the main gate. Nytewalkerz is a new extreme-sports zombie show. Margo Rita’s Monster Ball, a drag revue, has been expanded, and Sliders of the Night: Streets of Mayhem was revamped.
Is Fright Fest appropriate for kids?
Six Flags does not recommend it for children under 12.
There is also a chaperone rule. Guests 15 and younger need someone 21 or older with them after 4 p.m., which is a policy several parks adopted after crowd incidents at evening events.
When does Fright Fest run?
Select nights from Sept. 18 through Nov. 1 at Magic Mountain in Valencia.
Opening weekend is behind us, which usually means the mazes are running at full staffing by now. The last two weekends of October are the busiest of the season at every Southern California haunt, and the nights around Halloween itself sell through first.
For anyone comparing options locally, this is the same stretch when Knott’s Scary Farm and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights are running, which is why the $69 season pass exists. Magic Mountain is competing on price against events that charge considerably more per night.
