Marvel announced three animated Marvel Zombies Halloween specials for Disney+, one a year from 2027 to 2029: The Winter Soldier, The Fist of Khonshu and The Last Guardian.
Marvel Zombies is turning into a Halloween tradition.
At their New York Comic Con panel on Thursday, Oct. 8, Marvel Television and Marvel Animation announced three new animated Marvel Zombies specials for Disney+. There will be one a year in 2027, 2028, and 2029.
Marvel also revealed each special’s title and logo. The specials will be timed for Halloween, according to Bloody Disgusting.
What are the Marvel Zombies Halloween specials called?
Each title points to a different corner of the Marvel universe:
2027: Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier
2028: Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu
2029: Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian
The names point to Bucky Barnes, Moon Knight, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, according to WDW News Today. Khonshu is the Egyptian moon god who gives Moon Knight his powers, and the Winter Soldier is Bucky’s old assassin code name.
Marvel hasn’t shared plots, voice casts, or exact release dates yet. It also hasn’t said which Guardian could be the “last” one.
When do the Marvel Zombies specials come out?
Around Halloween each year, starting in 2027. That likely means October premieres on Disney+, but Marvel hasn’t named specific dates.
The first season of Marvel Zombies also landed right before spooky season. All four episodes hit Disney+ on Sept. 24, 2025.
Is Marvel Zombies Season 2 still happening?
Yes. The specials come on top of a second season that’s already in production, according to WDW News Today.
Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics and Franchise, confirmed in April that Season 2 was in production. He said he’d seen the first animatic, according to Bleeding Cool.
Marvel hasn’t given Season 2 a release date.
What is Marvel Zombies about?
The Avengers become zombies, and things go downhill fast. The show is set in an alternate universe where a zombie outbreak among Earth’s heroes kicks off a worldwide apocalypse.
The survivors, including Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, and Shang-Chi, try to stay alive and find a way to stop it.
The series picks up five years after “What If... Zombies?!,” a 2021 episode of Marvel’s animated show What If...?.
Who made Marvel Zombies?
Bryan Andrews directed all four episodes and served as showrunner. Zeb Wells wrote them.
The voice cast includes a lot of actors from Marvel’s movies and Disney+ shows. Iman Vellani, Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, Elizabeth Olsen, Simu Liu, Paul Rudd, and David Harbour all came back to voice their characters.
Is Marvel Zombies OK for kids?
Probably not for younger ones. Marvel Zombies is rated TV-MA, the first Marvel Studios Animation series to get that rating.
That means graphic zombie violence, so parents may want to check it out before letting kids watch.
Is Marvel Zombies based on a comic?
Yes. The original Marvel Zombies comic limited series came from writer Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, according to Bloody Disgusting.
Over the years, the comic spawned several sequels and spinoffs, which gives the specials plenty of material.
What else did Marvel announce at New York Comic Con?
A new spy thriller series called Zodiac, coming to Disney+ in 2028. WDW News Today reports it’s live action. Filming starts in London in spring 2027.
Between Zodiac and three years of zombies, Marvel’s Disney+ slate is booked through the end of the decade. Bucky goes first.
