The final chapter of the WandaVision story premieres Oct. 14, 2026, with eight episodes. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, and James Spader plays Ultron for the first time since 2015.
Vision is on the run, and the robot who tried to end the world is back in his head.
Marvel Television released a new trailer for VisionQuest ahead of its Oct. 14, 2026, premiere on Disney+, per Fantasy Land News. The eight-episode series brings back Paul Bettany as Vision and, for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, James Spader as Ultron.
It’s also the last piece of the story that started with WandaVision in 2021.
When does VisionQuest come out on Disney+?
Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026. The series has eight episodes, per Fantasy Land News.
Disney hasn’t confirmed how many episodes drop on day one. Marvel’s recent Disney+ shows have usually opened with two and then gone weekly, so plan on most of October and November to get through it.
What is VisionQuest about?
Vision, rebooted and hiding.
After the events of WandaVision, the white version of Vision flew off with his memories restored. VisionQuest picks up with him laying low, until someone puts a bounty on his head, per Fantasy Land News.
He goes on the run with Tommy, a mysterious boy who may be connected to him. Along the way, Vision has to fight off Ultron, the villain who created him, and figure out who Tommy really is.
Fans of Agatha All Along will know the name. Tommy is the twin brother of Billy, Wanda’s son, and Agatha ended with Billy setting out to find him.
The newest trailer leans into the chase, with Vision and Tommy running and Ultron’s voice never far behind.
Who is in the VisionQuest cast?
A mix of returning faces and new ones, per Fantasy Land News:
Paul Bettany as Vision
James Spader as Ultron
Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy
T’Nia Miller as Jocasta
Todd Stashwick as Paladin
James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S.
Spader played Ultron through voice and motion capture in 2015, and his dry, menacing delivery is a big part of why fans wanted him back.
That last one is a fun bit of casting. D’Arcy played Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark’s butler, in Agent Carter. Now he’s playing the AI that Tony Stark named after him.
Who made VisionQuest?
Terry Matalas is the showrunner. He ran the final season of Star Trek: Picard, which fans loved, so his name has Marvel and Trek fans paying attention.
Matalas also directs, along with Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro and Vincenzo Natali, per Fantasy Land News. Jac Schaeffer, who created WandaVision and Agatha All Along, is an executive producer.
Do you need to watch WandaVision before VisionQuest?
It helps a lot.
VisionQuest wraps up a three-show story.
WandaVision introduced the white Vision and Wanda’s twin boys. Agatha All Along followed Billy and set up the search for Tommy. You can probably follow VisionQuest on its own, but the emotional beats will land harder if you know where everyone came from.
All three shows stream on Disney+, along with Avengers: Age of Ultron, if you want a refresher on how badly things went the first time Ultron got loose.
How does VisionQuest connect to Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel hasn’t said.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters Dec. 18, 2026, with the Russo brothers directing and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and fans are already watching every Disney+ show for clues. Whether Vision or Ultron shows up in the movie is anyone’s guess right now.
What is confirmed is the date. Vision is back Oct. 14.
