Marvel’s Wonder Man has left Hulu, about three months after Disney canceled its second season. Disney+ is now the only place to stream all eight episodes.
Hulu just lost a Marvel show, and it’s one fans didn’t want to lose in the first place.
Wonder Man is no longer streaming on Hulu, CBR reported Oct. 23, crediting The Direct with the first report.
Hulu’s own page for the series now shows an “Oops! We don’t have that page” error, as PNP saw Monday morning.
All eight episodes are still on Disney+. The show hasn’t been released on Blu-ray, CBR noted, so Disney+ is the only way to watch it.
Here’s Marvel’s official trailer for the series:
When was Wonder Man on Hulu?
Since March. All eight episodes were streaming on Hulu by March 11, The Direct reported, so Hulu subscribers without Disney+ could watch the whole season at no extra cost.
CBR said the Hulu run was always meant to be for a limited time. Disney hasn’t said why it ended now.
Why was Wonder Man canceled?
Disney and Marvel haven’t given a public reason.
The timeline is what stung.
Wonder Man premiered on Disney+ in late January, with all eight episodes at once. Marvel renewed it for a second season in March. Then, at the end of July, the renewal was reversed, The Beat reported.
Co-creator and showrunner Andrew Guest said on TikTok that the call was “made internally by Disney and Marvel,” NME reported.
He also shut down the hopeful theories. “This is not a marketing stunt, there is no movie in the works,” Guest said, according to CBR. Contracts were signed, the writers’ room was about to start, and filming was planned for early 2027, The Beat reported.
Co-creator Destin Daniel Cretton told TheWrap, “I love that show to death.” He added that he’s “heartbroken” about it, CBR reported.
Who starred in Wonder Man?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played Simon Williams, an actor chasing the lead role in a remake of a superhero movie called Wonder Man.
Ben Kingsley came back as Trevor Slattery, the actor who played the fake Mandarin in Iron Man 3. Kingsley also played Trevor in Cretton’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The cast also included X Mayo, Demetrius Grosse, Zlatko Buric, Arian Moayed and Olivia Thirlby, CBR noted.
Abdul-Mateen broke the news to fans himself on Instagram on July 31. He said the show “won’t be coming back for Season 2,” ABC News reported. He also thanked fans who told him the show encouraged them not to give up.
Did Wonder Man win any Emmys?
No, but it came close. Abdul-Mateen was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
That was Marvel’s first nomination in a major Emmy category in five years, according to CBR. Matthew Rhys won the award for Widow’s Bay at the Sept. 14 ceremony, ABC reported.
Abdul-Mateen also picked up nominations from the Critics’ Choice Super Awards, the Astras, the Dorians and the Black Reel TV Awards, The Beat noted.
Wonder Man also earned a 91% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, CBR noted.
Has Marvel done this on Hulu before?
Yes, a few times. The first three episodes of Secret Invasion streamed on Hulu from July 21 to Aug. 17, 2023, The Direct reported.
Werewolf by Night also had a short Hulu run that ended in October 2023. And Echo premiered on Disney+ and Hulu at the same time, on Jan. 9, 2024.
Hulu was also home to older Marvel series like Runaways, Helstrom, M.O.D.O.K. and Hit-Monkey.
Where can you watch Wonder Man now?
Only on Disney+, at least for now.
Cretton has stayed busy. He directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which was in theaters when the cancellation news broke, CBR noted.
Guest said in his TikTok that he’d already written the first episode of season two, according to The Beat.
