Leaked images and what looks like a McDonald’s crew card point to five Disney Villains Boo Buckets from Oct. 20 to Nov. 2. McDonald’s hasn’t confirmed them, and they don’t match the monster buckets from a July rumor.
McDonald’s Boo Buckets may be going full Disney villain this Halloween.
Five Disney Villains Boo Buckets, starring Ursula, Maleficent, Scar, Jafar and Cruella de Vil, are reportedly coming to McDonald’s on Oct. 20, according to leaked images that have spread on X since Oct. 9.
McDonald’s hasn’t announced them. Its U.S. account on X hadn’t posted anything about Boo Buckets as of early Oct. 13, and we couldn’t find an announcement from Disney either. So this is a rumor for now, though a pretty detailed one.
What do the Disney Villains Boo Buckets look like?
Each bucket has one villain’s face staring over the rim, in a color that matches the character, going by the leaked images:
Ursula: purple
Maleficent: green
Scar: orange
Jafar: red
Cruella de Vil: white
All five have a yellow lid shaped like the Golden Arches, with a handle on top.
Every bucket reportedly comes with a sticker sheet, too. Snack-news account Snackolator said in a post on X on Monday night, Oct. 12, that the sheets feature “Disney characters and McDonald’s themed items.” The account’s image shows an Ursula sheet that says “Decorate with stickers.”
When do the Disney Villains Boo Buckets come out?
Oct. 20, reportedly, with the buckets available through Nov. 2.
Those dates appear on what looks like a McDonald’s crew card, shared by deals account Price Errors in a post on X on Oct. 11. The card reads “Oct-Nov 20th - 2nd” next to “Buckets Available.”
That would be a two-week run that ends two days after Halloween, which falls on a Saturday this year.
Are the Disney Villains Boo Buckets coming to the U.S.?
That’s the big question. The first post we found came from Disney fan account xmdis55 on Oct. 9. It said in a post on X that McDonald’s Brazil is launching the five buckets, which are “expected to arrive in Brazil in two weeks.”
But the rumor has since moved stateside, and the crew card is the best clue. It lists Happy Meal items that match the U.S. menu: a hamburger or a 4- or 6-piece McNuggets, kids fries, apple slices and low-fat milk.
Snackolator’s post frames it as a U.S. release, too. And Oct. 20 is roughly the “two weeks” xmdis55 gave for Brazil.
Still, we couldn’t find an official announcement from McDonald’s in either country.
What happened to the monster Boo Buckets?
Back on July 11, we covered a different leak. Facebook fan page Nightmare Nostalgia shared images of a supposed 40th-anniversary lineup: a witch, a vampire, a skeleton, a werewolf and a cat. We flagged those images as questionable at the time.
The new leak doesn’t match any of them. It’s five villains, no monsters, and nothing about an anniversary.
If the villains are right, the monster lineup wasn’t. Neither one is confirmed, so we’ll know for sure when McDonald’s says something.
How do you get a Boo Bucket at McDonald’s?
Boo Buckets come with a Happy Meal. The leaked crew card says the entree and sides go in the bucket, and the drink is served on the side.
The card also has a rule for crew members. If a customer orders an extra kids fries, staff shouldn’t combine two kids fries into a small fry.
Prices haven’t leaked, and Happy Meal prices vary by restaurant.
Have McDonald’s and Disney teamed up before?
Yes, in a big way. Disney and McDonald’s announced a 10-year partnership on May 23, 1996, as we reported in June. McDonald’s put Disney movies in Happy Meals, and Disney let McDonald’s sell food inside its parks.
That’s how you could buy McDonald’s fries in red Golden Arches cones at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and at Disneyland’s Conestoga Fries stand near Big Thunder Mountain.
The deal ran out in 2007. A McDonald’s near Disney’s All-Star Resorts is still open.
When did McDonald’s Boo Buckets start?
In 1986, when McDonald’s swapped the Happy Meal box for plastic trick-or-treat pails called McBoo Pails. The first three were a ghost, a jack-o’-lantern and a witch.
They faded out for years, then came back in 2022 to a wave of nostalgia. McDonald’s has brought them back most years since, adding new designs along the way.
So 2026 is the Boo Bucket’s 40th Halloween season. A Disney villains lineup would be a big swing for the birthday.
What are some fun facts about Boo Buckets?
Everybody wants a bucket now. Petco and Dunkin’ both rolled out their own Halloween buckets this year, which we covered.
Villains fit the season. Ursula, Maleficent, Scar, Jafar and Cruella are some of Disney’s best-known bad guys, and five of them would make the first all-villain Boo Bucket set, if the leak holds.
The colors would cover a classic set. The leaked lineup includes a white, an orange and a green bucket, the same colors as the original ghost, pumpkin and witch.
We’ll update this when McDonald’s confirms or denies it. Until then, it’s villainous gossip with a very convincing crew card.
