Who are Ladybug and Cat Noir?
They’re two Paris teenagers with a big secret. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and her classmate Adrien Agreste use magical jewels called Miraculous to turn into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir. Their tiny kwami sidekicks, Tikki and Plagg, power the transformations.
The catch, for most of the show’s run, is that they don’t know each other’s real identities. That running love-square mix-up has powered the show for years.
What happens in Miraculous Season 7?
Marinette’s choices start to carry bigger consequences, both for her personal life and for her job as Ladybug. According to Variety, shifting friendships and relationships make it harder for her to protect Paris.
The season also brings new superpowers and more villains. The official synopsis puts it simply: in the first episodes, Marinette’s personal life is shaken.
The show’s official YouTube channel has been teasing the season with trailers, including one built around Lila, and a teaser for the first episode, “Replay Value.”
Where can I watch Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir?
In the U.S., Disney Channel airs new episodes, and Disney+ streams the first six seasons.
Season 6 premiered on Disney Channel and Disney XD on Jan. 25, 2025. Its finale, “Nemesis,” aired this past August.
The show has bounced around a bit in the U.S. It first aired on Nickelodeon in December 2015, then on the KidsClick block, before Disney Channel picked it up in 2019.
There’s also a movie. Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie came out in France in July 2023 and hit Netflix later that month.
How popular is Miraculous?
Very. Variety cites Parrot Analytics data showing that from June 21 to Sept. 18, Miraculous outperformed 850 school-age and preschool kids’ shows and ranked fourth among all TV series worldwide. It was the only kids’ show in that top 10.
The first six seasons have sold in more than 150 countries. The official YouTube channel has about 54 million subscribers and more than 55 billion lifetime views. Toy and merchandise sales have topped $1 billion at retail.
The show is run by Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between French media company Mediawan and ZAG, the studio that developed the series.
What’s next for the Miraculous franchise?
A lot. Here’s what’s in the works:
Miraculous Stellar Force: a spinoff headed to Disney+ and Disney Channel in 2027
Miraculous Chibi: 52 three-minute shorts, picked up by Disney and TF1
A live-action series: in development at See-Saw Films, with Emme Hoy writing
New toys: Jazwares is the new global toy partner, with its first line due in spring 2027
A new theatrical movie is in development, too.
Miraculous was created by Thomas Astruc and developed by Jeremy Zag. It first aired in South Korea in September 2015, then in France that October.
