True to form, Slowpoke is showing up three weeks late. Mister Donut's Pokemon 30th anniversary lineup hit stores in Japan on Nov. 4, led by a Pon de Alolan Diglett for 367 yen, about $2.35.
Mister Donut's yearly Pokemon team-up is back in Japan, and one guest is late on purpose.
The chain's winter campaign, "Minna de Shugo! Fuyu no Pokemon Kyanpen" (roughly "Everyone Gather! Winter Pokemon Campaign"), started walk-in sales Wednesday, Nov. 4, at most Mister Donut shops in Japan. Pre-orders started going home with fans on Nov. 2, according to Duskin, the company that runs Mister Donut there.
The new face is Pon de Alolan Diglett, 367 yen to go, or about $2.35. A chocolate-coated Pon de Ring plays the "ground," topped with custard cream and chocolate crunch. A caramel-chocolate cream puff Diglett pokes out of the middle.
Then there's Slowpoke, getting its first Mister Donut donut. It doesn't arrive until Nov. 25. Duskin's release says, roughly translated, that true to laid-back Slowpoke, it joins "a little later than the other donuts." The tagline is "Nonbiri, shiyou yo," or "Let's take it easy." Honestly, iconic.
The theme ties to Pokemon's 30th anniversary in 2026. Alolan Diglett is "gathering" Pokemon from past Mister Donut collabs for one big reunion.
How much are the Mister Donut Pokemon donuts?
Duskin lists two prices for everything, takeout and eat-in, tax included. Eat-in costs a few yen more because Japan taxes dine-in food at a higher rate. Takeout prices, with rough dollar conversions at about 157 yen to the dollar:
Fluffy Pikachu Donut (Mofumofu Pikachu Donut): 345 yen, about $2.20. A soft yeast donut with whipped cream, custard-flavored flakes and strawberry gummy cheeks.
Pon de Alolan Diglett: 367 yen, about $2.35.
Pokemon Angel and Custard: 237 yen, about $1.50. It comes in one of four random sleeves. Collect all four and you see every Pokemon that's appeared at Mister Donut.
Pon de Wreath: 205 yen, about $1.30, in burnt caramel or white chocolate with colored sugar.
Slowpoke Donut: 345 yen, about $2.20, starting Nov. 25. A cream puff shell with white chocolate, strawberry milk sugar and whipped cream ears.
What Pokemon goods does Mister Donut have this year?
Two sets, both while supplies last:
Goods Set: 2,200 yen, about $14. You get two Pokemon donuts, one Pon de Wreath, a paper bag and a soft blanket. The orange blanket has Jigglypuff, Charmander and Eevee. The blue one has Snorlax, Piplup and Wobbuffet. Each is about 39 by 32 inches, and Duskin says they're taller than last year's.
Kids' Goods Set: 1,180 yen, about $7.50. It has one Pokemon donut, one Pon de Wreath and a kids' glass with Pokemon wrapped all the way around. It holds about 5 ounces when filled most of the way. It's meant for ages 4 and up.
The takeout boxes and bags get Pokemon art, too, even if you only buy regular donuts. Mister Donut won't hand out the boxes or bags on their own, though. Nice try.
When can you pre-order the Slowpoke donut?
Pre-orders open Nov. 18 on the Misdo Net Order website and the Mister Donut app, with pickup starting Nov. 23. Walk-in sales start Nov. 25. Duskin isn't taking reservations by phone or in stores, and online orders are takeout only.
There's no end date. Each shop stops selling the donuts when it runs out of ingredients, and the goods end when they sell out.
How long has Mister Donut done Pokemon donuts?
Since at least 2018, based on SoraNews24's yearly coverage. Pikachu is a regular. The guest list rotates.
Regular Diglett got a donut in 2024. Last year's debut was Foongus. Now Diglett's Alolan form, with its golden hair, gets a turn. The Diglett family clearly has a good agent.
Can you get Mister Donut's Pokemon donuts in the U.S.?
No. This campaign is for Mister Donut shops in Japan.
Fun twist, though: Mister Donut started in the U.S. in 1956. Its founder, Harry Winokur, was the brother-in-law of Dunkin' founder William Rosenberg. After Dunkin' bought the chain around 1990, most American Mister Donut shops closed or became Dunkin'. Duskin bought the rights to Mister Donut across Japan and Asia in 1983.
So the Pokemon donuts are, in a roundabout way, a very American export. Just one you'll need a passport to eat.
