Muppet Courtyard Stage 1 Studio Store Demolished Ahead of Monsters Inc. Retheme
The sadness keeps on coming as the former Muppet Vision gift shop, aka the Stage 1 Studio Store, has been demolished at the old Muppet Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Bioreconstruct on Twitter has aerial images showing the newly demolished store area.
Prior to the demolition guests needed to walk around a fake street to reach the Christmas shop and Mama Melrose’s Restaurant. Now it’s all open.
The Stage 1 Studio Store has been closed for quite some time before the rest of the Muppet Courtyard was shut down.
Here is how the Stage 1 Studio Store used to look.
The entrance featured a Miss Piggy clock with two Kermit statues in tuxedos flanking the doorway. Paint was “spilled” along the bases. A large Kermit face was painted on the building and a Professor Honeydew homage was also on the facade.
Inside the store it looked like a warehouse or soundstage with Muppet nods throughout.
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band was featured. These characters will be replacing Aerosmith in the new version of the Rock 'n’ Roller Coaster.
It’s sad to see this store go, but it has been closed since 2020 when the Pandemic hit and it never reopened.
Bioreconstruct also posted an image of the pavement outside the Muppet Theater being removed.
Images of the preparation for the new Monsters Inc. Coaster show building were also shared.
Why is Disney tearing the Muppet Courtyard down?
Disney is replacing the Muppet Courtyard with Muppets Inc. and will include a vertical take-off coaster.
