Sept. 29 brings free coffee at Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, Whataburger and more. Krispy Kreme is also selling a coffee-flavored Original Glazed for $5 a dozen through Monday.
Set your alarm for Tuesday. It’s National Coffee Day on Sept. 29, and the chains are giving it away again.
The biggest name on the list is Dunkin’, which is handing out a free medium hot or iced coffee to Rewards members with any purchase, per NerdWallet. No code needed. Just order in the app.
Krispy Kreme is doing one better. Along with a free coffee, it’s rolling out a coffee-flavored Original Glazed doughnut for four days only.
“Coffee and doughnuts are already a perfect pair, so bringing coffee flavor to our iconic Original Glazed doughnut makes National Coffee Day even sweeter,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer, in the company’s announcement.
What is Krispy Kreme’s National Coffee Day deal?
Free coffee on Tuesday, plus a doughnut deal that runs through it.
On Sept. 29, any purchase at a participating Krispy Kreme gets you a free small or medium hot or iced coffee, one per guest, per the company’s Sept. 23 release.
The Original Glazed Coffee Flavored Doughnut is available Sept. 26 through Sept. 29. Buy any dozen at regular price and you can add a dozen of the coffee ones for $5. The limit is two of the $5 dozens per guest in the shop or drive-thru, or one in the app with code COFFEE.
Krispy Kreme describes the flavor as “subtly bold and perfectly sweet.” Twelve of them at once is a lot of subtle.
Which restaurants have free coffee on National Coffee Day 2026?
More than usual, and a few don’t even require a purchase. Per NerdWallet’s Sept. 24 roundup:
Dunkin’: free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase for Rewards members
Krispy Kreme: free small or medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase
Whataburger: free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee, no purchase needed
Caribou Coffee: free medium hot coffee or cold brew when you buy another drink, at participating shops
Paris Baguette: free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase for Rewards members
Peet’s Coffee: medium drip coffee for 25 cents
Klatch Coffee: free Competition Cappuccino with a promo code from the app, one per guest
DoorDash has its own pair. Dunkin’ orders of $15 or more get a free medium coffee on Sept. 29, and Scooter’s Coffee is running buy-one-get-one on medium Carmelicious drinks from Sept. 27 through Sept. 29.
Whataburger is the standout. Free coffee, no strings, no app. Just walk in.
Does Starbucks do anything for National Coffee Day?
Starbucks usually sits the day out, and as of Sunday it hasn’t announced a 2026 offer. If that changes, it’ll be in the app.
McDonald’s hasn’t posted one either. Its $1 any-size coffee runs through the app most weeks anyway, so check the deals tab Tuesday morning.
Is there a National Coffee Day deal for making coffee at home?
Yes, if you’re a Keurig person.
Keurig has a sale running through Sept. 29, per NerdWallet. K-Cup pods are marked down to $12 from their usual $19 to $22, and the K-Duo brewer is $139.99, down from $219.99.
When is National Coffee Day?
Every year on Sept. 29. This year it’s a Tuesday.
It’s not an official holiday, just a marketing day that stuck. International Coffee Day follows two days later on Oct. 1, and some chains stretch their deals across both.
Most of Tuesday’s offers are one per guest, and most need a purchase. Read the app fine print, because “free with any purchase” at a doughnut shop is how you end up with two dozen doughnuts.
