Take Charge of My Heart, a new Korean romantic comedy, premieres on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 9. It stars Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin, and its premise is one of the stranger ones on the K-drama calendar this fall.

What is Take Charge of My Heart about?
Ho-rang, played by Kim Young-kwang, is a rich heir with an artificial heart. The battery is running low.
Na Bo-bae, played by Chae Soo-bin, was struck by lightning as a kid and came away with electric powers. According to Netflix, Ho-rang needs her to keep his heart going for three months, until he can get another surgery.
So yes, she’s basically his portable charger. And, per Kim Young-kwang, the recharging happens “through physical contact.” You can probably guess where that goes.
When does Take Charge of My Heart come out on Netflix?
It premieres Oct. 9, 2026, according to Netflix.
Korean outlets Topstar and Cineplay report the release time as 5 PM Korea time. That’s 4 AM Eastern on Friday in the U.S. They also report the show has 10 episodes. Netflix hasn’t said on its news page whether every episode drops at once or weekly, so keep an eye on the Netflix app as launch day gets closer.
Who is in the cast of Take Charge of My Heart?
The two leads:
Kim Young-kwang as Baek Ho-rang, a perfectionist workaholic who’s the heir to a big company and an executive at TS Resort
Chae Soo-bin as Na Bo-bae, a TV drama writer with electric powers
Cha Woo-min and Jung Jae-kwang are also in the cast, Soompi reported.
The show is directed by Park Soo-won and written by Song You-chae, per Netflix.
Is Take Charge of My Heart based on a webtoon?
It’s based on a web novel. Netflix says the show is adapted from a Naver web novel called Charge Me Up by Haebeon.
The Korean title, 나를 충전해줘, means roughly “Charge Me Up,” too.
What did Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin say about the show?
Both leads talked about it when Netflix released new character stills Sept. 15, Soompi reported.
Kim Young-kwang called it “a comic-book-like romance.” He also said the set was a good time: “We had so much fun filming that there was hardly a moment when we weren’t laughing.”
Chae Soo-bin said the show “takes the familiar appeal unique to romantic comedies and charges it with our own lovable charm.”
Why does Chae Soo-bin have curly hair in Take Charge of My Heart?
It’s a static electricity joke, and it’s on purpose.
Chae Soo-bin said she wanted Bo-bae’s hair to show the character’s powers. Per Soompi, she said she “expressed the premise that static electricity occurs through her curly hair.” That’s the kind of detail you’ll never unsee once you start watching.
