New Rumor Says Johnny Depp Is Returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates 6
File this under rumor because nothing has been confirmed and it’s an “on again” “off again” circle when it comes to the question “Is Johnny Depp returning to Pirates of the Caribbean?”
I feel like we are pulling petals off a flower saying “he’s returning”…”no he’s not.”
The most recent rumor circulating now says that yes, Johnny Depp will once again play Captain Jack Sparrow, but only in a supporting role capacity.
I have no idea if this is part of the supposedly still green-lit Margo Robbie, all-female, pirate crew or the other film that is also said to be still green-lit.
In most of the films, Captain Jack Sparrow, was one of the leads or a supporting character. Hopefully, if this rumor is true, he will be utilized in a similar way.
Fans have opinions
“He needs to either; Be the Lead again Or The story should center around hunting him down and set up his return at the end” - Galactus_MCU
“There’s no Pirates movie without Johnny, I’ll take the win.” -Ushindi
“Fine with a supporting role as long as he’s in it and it’s a good script. The franchise needs a fresh lead to carry the future of the films.” - Vent It
“Jack Sparrow wasn't the lead in the first Pirates film. That was Will and Elizabeth. He took on a more central role in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. But in many ways, still a secondary character. So this wouldn't really be a bad thing if he's still central to the story.” - Andreas V.
“How can you relegate him to a supporting role, this guy IS THE FRANCHISE”- Review Flicks
“I can take it, but let him have a decent amount of screen time” - Dank F.
Again, who knows if it is true or not.
What I do know is that by the time a new Pirates of the Caribbean film comes out no one is going to care. That ship has sailed.
