A Rainforest Cafe is closing at a Disney resort, and the closure date just moved. It is the one at Disneyland Paris, not either of the two in Florida.
Search traffic for Rainforest Cafe spiked this week, and a lot of the people searching are worried about the wrong restaurant.
The location closing is at Disney Village, the shopping and dining district outside Disneyland Paris. Its closure was pushed from September 15 to November 2026.
The Disney Springs and Disney’s Animal Kingdom locations in Florida are unaffected and remain fully operational.
Which Rainforest Cafe is actually closing
The Paris location opened in 1999 as part of the resort’s entertainment district expansion, back when the area was still called Festival Disney.
Reports of the closure began circulating in April, and the specific September 15 date came from the account DLP Rescue Rangers in May, citing staff who had been informed internally.
Disney has never publicly confirmed the closure or the date. This week’s reporting that the date moved to November comes from the same tier of coverage, without official confirmation.
Why the Disney Springs location keeps coming up
Disney Springs at Walt Disney World was formerly called Downtown Disney. Disneyland Resort in California also has a Downtown Disney, and its Rainforest Cafe closed permanently on June 30, 2018.
That California closure was meant to clear space for a 700-room hotel that was later cancelled after a dispute between Disney and the City of Anaheim. The building came down anyway and the restaurant never returned.
So when a headline says a Rainforest Cafe at Disney is closing, readers who remember the Downtown Disney closure assume it is happening again in Florida.
It is not. The Disney Springs location near the Marketplace is open, and it remains one of the district’s busiest restaurants.

The count is smaller than it used to be.
Walt Disney World has two: Disney Springs and the one at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Tokyo Disney Resort has Japan’s only location, at Ikspiari.
Disneyland Paris has the one closing in November.
Disneyland Resort has none, and has not since 2018.
What is replacing it at Disneyland Paris
Nothing has been announced, which is part of why the story keeps generating attention.
Disney Village is in the middle of a long redevelopment. The original Disney Store closed in January 2026 and is becoming Disney Wonders. Annette’s Diner is under substantial refurbishment. Casa Giulia, a two-story Italian restaurant, is expected to open by the end of 2026 on the former Planet Hollywood site.
Newer additions including Disney Style, Disney Glamour, and Deco by Disney have already joined the lineup, and the Sports Bar & Lounge reopened with a new design in 2025.
The fate of the Rainforest Cafe building is the one piece still unresolved.
Why Rainforest Cafe mattered at Disney in the first place
The chain arrived during Disney’s late-1990s dining expansion, when the company was betting heavily on restaurants that functioned as attractions.
Rainforest Cafe delivered exactly that. Indoor thunderstorms, animatronic elephants and gorillas, jungle sound effects, aquariums, and gift shops nearly as large as the dining rooms.
The Anaheim location, which opened in 2001, was built to resemble Incan ruins with waterfalls and vines. On its final weekend, guests waited up to two hours for a table.
That format has largely gone out of fashion. The Florida locations survived because Disney Springs draws enormous foot traffic and the Animal Kingdom location fits its park thematically.
If you want to visit before the Paris location closes
You have until November, based on reporting rather than an official date.
For anyone in Florida, no clock is running. Both Disney World locations are open with no announced changes.
Disney has not commented on any of this publicly, which is worth remembering. Until the company says something, the November timing could move again, in either direction.
