Disney Dreamlight Valley releases its Season of Scares update on Wednesday, Sept. 23, built around “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Players find a mysterious mirror that drops them into Oogie Boogie’s lair, which starts a quest about what he has planned for the Valley.
What characters are added in Season of Scares?
Oogie Boogie joins as a villager, which makes him one of the few outright villains to move in rather than visit.
Zero, Jack Skellington’s ghost dog, arrives as a companion. Lucifer, the cat from “Cinderella,” comes along as a companion too.
There is a deadline. The quest content has to be accessed by Nov. 4.
What else is in the Season of Scares update?
The Trick-or-Treat event returns, along with the Haunted Floating Festival in October.
A new star path called Haunting Elegance brings themed rewards, and the update rolls in several quality-of-life additions players have asked about for a while: an event board, an emote wheel, furniture preset sharing, a clear biome feature, and the final rooms of the Grand Exhibition.
What is the next Dreamlight Valley expansion?
The Keepsake Sea, announced alongside the Halloween update, with full details coming Oct. 21.
It adds biomes both above and below the water, which is a first for a game that has kept its feet on dry land.
