Best Buy sold Pokemon's new 30th anniversary Ultra-Premium Collection at its $179.99 list price. The Reno Gazette Journal found Target charging $249.99 and GameStop $399.99 for the same box.
Pokemon fans brought lawn chairs, sleeping bags and at least one air mattress to Best Buy on Thursday night. The prize was a $179.99 box holding 30 packs of cards. That's about $6 a pack, by our math.
The Pokemon Company released two big products on Friday, Nov. 6: the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection, in Day and Night versions, and the new Mega Evolution Delta Reign expansion. Local TV stations and the Reno Gazette Journal reported overnight lines at Best Buy, Target and other stores.
In Louisville, WLKY found people outside the St. Matthews Best Buy as early as 7:45 p.m. Thursday. A father and son, both named Michael, had arrived at 4 p.m. to be first. By 8:30 a.m. Friday, more than 100 people wrapped around the building.
One of them was a 9-year-old who sold cards, did chores and saved birthday money for months. "I just love Pokemon," he told WLKY.
In Reno, nearly 100 people were waiting when Best Buy opened early, the Gazette Journal reported. A nearby Barnes & Noble got only 10 Ultra-Premium boxes, five of each version. They were gone fast.
Outside St. Louis, dozens of fans were lined up at the Fairview Heights, Ill., Best Buy by 3 a.m., KTVI reported. "It's the only way to get them nowadays. You gotta be here first," collector Harry Hopkinson said.
Near Milwaukee, WISN spotted tents and Pokemon onesies outside Best Buy and Target stores. Black Friday was still three weeks away. Nobody told the card aisle.
Here's a look at the line outside a Fort Myers Best Buy, from WINK News:

Will the Pokemon Ultra-Premium Collection be restocked?
We couldn't find a restock date for the Ultra-Premium boxes from The Pokemon Company or the big retailers.
Earlier 30th Celebration products have come back in waves. The Gazette Journal reported that Elite Trainer Boxes restocked several times at Target and Best Buy, and that Walmart keeps running online drawings. Target also started its own Pokemon raffles on Nov. 2.
