Disney says it's the first time a Korean girl group's song has played over the end credits of a Disney animated movie. RESCENE's "With" came out Nov. 3 and hit No. 1 on Korea's Melon chart in about two hours.
Disney's Hexed is getting a K-pop ending. In Korea, anyway.
K-pop girl group RESCENE's new single "With" will play over the end credits of Disney's animated Hexed in Korean theaters, Disney said Wednesday, Korea JoongAng Daily reported. In Korea, the movie is titled "Hex: The Witch Kingdom."
Disney says it's the first time a Korean girl group's song has been used in the end credits of a Disney animated movie. Korean outlets reported that the song plays on both the subtitled and the Korean-dubbed versions.
This is a Korean-release thing. Disney hasn't announced "With" for the U.S. version. Hexed opens in Korea on Nov. 25, the same day it hits U.S. theaters.
The timing works out nicely for RESCENE. "With" dropped Nov. 3 and reached No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 and Hot 100 charts about two hours after release, Sports Kyunghyang reported. It also topped the real-time charts on Bugs and Genie.
Here's a look at RESCENE's Hexed team-up:
What is RESCENE's "With" about?
"With" is the title track of PULSE, RESCENE's fourth mini album. The whole album is built around a heartbeat.
The song is about running toward a voice that calls you, meeting someone you've long dreamed of and promising to keep going together, Sports Kyunghyang reported. For a movie about a teen witch and her mom on a magical adventure, that tracks.
A new collab video shows all five members styled like Billie, the movie's teen witch. Disney Korea supplied photos of the look to Korean outlets.
PULSE also sold 131,893 copies on its first day, according to Hanteo Chart. That beats the group's previous best of 104,406, set by lip bomb, by about 26%.
Who is RESCENE?
RESCENE is a five-member group: Woni, Liv, Minami, May and Zena. They're signed to The Muze Entertainment and debuted March 26, 2024, with the single album Re:Scene.
2026 has been a big year. Their remake of Kara's "Pretty Girl" earned the group's first music show win, on The Show in July.
Then "Love Attack," a 2024 song, climbed back up the charts nearly two years after its release and won on SBS's Inkigayo. Now Disney is calling. Not bad for a group that's about two and a half years old.
When does Hexed come out?
Hexed opens in U.S. theaters Wednesday, Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving. It's rated PG.
Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie Doe, an impulsive teen whose new magic pulls her out of the suburbs and into Hexe, a huge world of witches. Rashida Jones voices her cautious mom, Alice.
Walton Goggins plays Beef Roger Crummchuk, a reclusive three-eyed cat, and Jodie Foster voices the villain, Queen Celeste.
Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand directed, with Josie Trinidad as co-director. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller wrote it, and Kris Bowers wrote the score. The movie opens with a hand-drawn 2D prologue, a rare move for Disney Animation these days.
Box office trackers think Hexed could open to around $70 million over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend, as we reported last week.
What other music is in Hexed?
Girl groups are having a moment with Disney's witches. A new U.S. promo last week used KATSEYE's "Animal," from the group's EP WILD, Laughing Place reported. It's not clear whether that song is in the movie itself.
Steinfeld also recorded a cover of The Cars' 1984 song "Magic" for the movie, released Oct. 23. Laughing Place says it's on the Hexed soundtrack.
If you catch Hexed in Seoul, stay through the credits. RESCENE will be waiting.
