The Electric Mayhem’s holiday show took over Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Nov. 4. Here are the songs, the Santa-hat Scooter preshow and how long it runs.
The Muppets got their first Christmas at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and they got it loud.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay started Wednesday, Nov. 4. Disney says it runs through Jan. 6, which BlogMickey pins as Jan. 6, 2027, the last day of Disney World’s holiday season.
Yes, “Obligatory” is in the official name. It’s the Muppets. Of course it is.
Disney Parks Blog calls it “a holiday concert that only The Electric Mayhem could deliver.” Disney’s own Parks account put it more simply on X this morning: “The Electric Mayhem is ready for the holidays.”
Here’s a full preshow and ride-through from Drew the Disney Dude, filmed on opening day:
What songs play on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster holiday overlay?
Disney lists four holiday tracks for the ride:
“Holiday Road,” The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson
“Silver Bells,” The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper
“Little Saint Nick,” The Electric Mayhem
You’ll hear one track per ride, so you might need a few laps to catch them all. Laughing Place described three new tracks in its first look and left “Little Saint Nick” off. Disney’s list has four.
If you saw posts today saying Michael Buble or the Jonas Brothers are on the soundtrack, Disney’s set list doesn’t include either act. Laughing Place says Buble does show up in a smaller way. Preshow screens show decorations and presents for three featured artists: Buble, Lauper and Hudson.
What’s new in the queue and preshow?
The holiday stuff starts before you even get inside. Festive music now plays in the courtyard around the giant guitar marquee, before guests walk into G-Force Records.
Backstage, the band is rehearsing a holiday show. Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot and Lips are all there. Gonzo and Rizzo stop by to help.
WDWNT says the two come “to offer a helping hand... or at least try to.”
Then there’s Scooter, the Audio-Animatronics figure still trying to get the band to quit jamming and go meet their fans, with penguin audio engineers pitching in. For the holidays, he’s wearing a Santa hat, per Laughing Place and WDWNT. Disney says this Scooter was the first Audio-Animatronics figure built from motion capture of the actual Scooter Muppet.
Laughing Place also spotted a few smaller touches:
Electric Mayhem posters in the queue now plug the band’s holiday concert.
The countdown video with Animal has a holiday twist.
The tiny Rats’ Squeakeasy got its own tiny holiday decorations.
After that, you still board the L.I.M.O. in the alley behind Studio C. That’s short for “Lengthy Immediate Motion Object,” which is a very Muppets way to say limo.
Do the ride photos change for the holidays too?
Yes. Three holiday on-ride photo frames starring Animal, Kermit and the Electric Mayhem started the same day, Nov. 4, and run on the same schedule as the overlay.
When did the Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster?
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith opened July 29, 1999. Its last day was Sunday, March 1, 2026, per WDWNT. The Muppets version opened May 26, 2026.
The ride itself didn’t change. You still launch from 0 to 57 mph in about 2.8 seconds, then head through three inversions in the dark. The height requirement is still 48 inches, so the little Muppet fans in your group will need to clear that bar.
What else is new at Hollywood Studios for the holidays?
The coaster is one piece of a busy week at the park. Hollywood Studios got its Christmas garlands, wreaths and Echo Lake ornaments this week, per WDWNT. A new exhibit called “Disney Takes a Holiday” also opened inside Walt Disney Presents, with a look at Disney World holiday offerings over the years.
The park’s after-hours holiday party, Disney Jollywood Nights, is selling fast. WDWNT reported that the Thanksgiving weekend date sold out on Nov. 4.
Heading to Disney World before Jan. 6, 2027? Get in line, see which song you land, and find out if Scooter ever gets that band out the door.
