Disney’s Hollywood Studios is giving its Muppets coaster three new holiday ride photo frames starring Animal, Kermit and the Electric Mayhem. Here’s what they look like and when they start.
Your Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster photo is about to get a lot more festive. Disney has shown off three holiday on-ride photo designs for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The new frames show up Wednesday, Nov. 4, and stay through Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2027, according to BlogMickey and Laughing Place. That’s the same run as the ride’s “Obligatory Holiday Overlay.”
So if you’ve been holding out for a good excuse to scream your way through a Santa-hat photo with Animal, this is it.
What do the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster holiday photos look like?
There are three designs, based on the first look shared Monday, Nov. 2, and reported by BlogMickey, Laughing Place and MickeyBlog.
A red “Merry Mayhem” concert poster: Animal and Kermit wear Santa hats, with the tagline “One Night to Rock the Halls.”
A Christmas tree ornament frame: a rainbow-striped ornament packed with tiny gags, including a “MUPP3T5” license plate and a “Rockin’ Christmas by The Electric Mayhem” record.
A wide band frame: Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem front and center, with “G-Force Records Presents The Electric Mayhem One Night to Rock The Halls.”
Our favorite detail is on the ornament frame. There’s a little caution sign with Waldo’s silhouette that reads “Obligatory Easter Egg.” That is extremely Muppets.
What is the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster holiday overlay?
The photos match a bigger seasonal makeover for the ride. Disney Parks Blog says that from Nov. 4 through Jan. 6, “The Electric Mayhem is putting its own spin on the season.”
The holiday soundtrack includes “Holiday Road” with Kermit and Fozzie, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” sung by Jennifer Hudson, “Silver Bells” with Cyndi Lauper and “Little Saint Nick.” Gonzo and Rizzo pop up in the preshow, too.
That’s a pretty wild mix for a launch coaster that goes from zero to 57 mph in under three seconds. Nothing says “season’s greetings” like getting launched into the dark to Jennifer Hudson.
When did the Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster?
The Muppets version opened on May 26, 2026, according to AllEars. It replaced Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which opened in 1999 and ran its last day on March 1, 2026, per FOX 35.
The ride kept its basic layout, with the launch, the dark indoor track and the inversions. The story changed from a race to an Aerosmith concert to a wild ride with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
The height requirement is still 48 inches, according to Disney World’s ride page. So little ones who can’t ride yet might want to hang out with a grown-up and watch for the photo screens at the exit.
How do you get your Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster holiday photo?
On-ride photos are part of Disney PhotoPass. If you have Memory Maker, your ride photos download with the rest of your pictures from the trip.
Disney World’s PhotoPass page lists Memory Maker at $185 or $210, depending on when you buy it. Buying at least three days ahead saves you $25.
There’s also Memory Maker One Day, which costs $85. Single photos are sold through DisneyPhotoPass.com, though Disney’s page doesn’t list a price for one ride photo.
Pro tip: look at the camera. On a launch coaster, that is a lot harder than it sounds.
What else is happening at Hollywood Studios for the holidays?
Plenty. Disney Jollywood Nights, the after-hours holiday party at Hollywood Studios, starts Saturday, Nov. 7, and runs on select nights into early January.
Sunset Seasons Greetings also returns to the Hollywood Tower Hotel this season. Disney says the Tower of Terror building is “transformed nightly,” and day guests can catch it as well as party guests.
Put it all together and Sunset Boulevard is about to be the most festive street in the park. The Muppets are just making sure it’s also the loudest.
If you’re riding between Nov. 4 and Jan. 6, smile on the launch. Or don’t. Animal probably won’t judge.
