runDisney’s 2027 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend themes surfaced early: Abu, Pinocchio, Elsa and Sam Eagle. Fans noticed the characters are standing in front of the wrong countries.
Disney World runners got an early peek at next year. The themes for the 2027 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend showed up online Oct. 28, just days after the 2026 race weekend ended, BlogMickey reported.
WDWNT says runDisney “reportedly revealed” them by accident. The graphic showed up in web searches and link previews, not on the visible site, and it has since been taken down.
The lineup is Abu, Pinocchio, Elsa and Sam Eagle. And then people looked at the backgrounds.
The early reveal came fast. The 2026 races had only wrapped up that weekend, and most runners hadn’t even finished posting their medal photos yet.
What are the runDisney 2027 Wine and Dine themes?
Each race distance gets its own character and a World Showcase pavilion behind it, per BlogMickey:
5K: Abu from “Aladdin,” in front of the Norway pavilion
10K: Pinocchio, in front of the Morocco pavilion
Half marathon: Elsa from “Frozen,” in front of Italy’s tower
Two Course Challenge (19.3 miles): Sam Eagle from “The Muppets,” in front of The American Adventure
BlogMickey matched Sam Eagle to the challenge based on the mileage on the artwork. runDisney hasn’t confirmed any of it.
Disney’s theme for the weekend centers on World Showcase “tastes and tales,” BlogMickey said. The art shows each character surrounded by food.
What’s the mistake in the runDisney graphic?
Look at who’s standing where. Pinocchio is from Italy, but he’s in Morocco. Elsa’s home of Arendelle is inspired by Norway, but she’s in Italy. Abu, a monkey from Agrabah, is hanging out in Norway.
“Pinocchio is literally from Italy, and he’s in Morocco,” Disney Fanatic wrote.
Sam Eagle at The American Adventure is the only pairing that lines up. Honestly, Sam would be furious about the rest. He’s very big on things being proper.
Inside the Magic’s writer flagged the Abu-in-Norway pick and wrote, “Seems like an error was made and wasn’t caught before publishing.”
Was it actually a mistake?
Maybe not. Disney Dining wrote, “It’s not clear if this was a mistake or intentional.”
The “tastes and tales” theme could explain it. If the idea is characters sampling food from around the world, Pinocchio trying Moroccan food makes more sense than Pinocchio eating at home. Disney Fanatic raised that possibility too.
Then again, the graphic also got pulled. So who knows. Either way, it’s a fun one to argue about while you foam roll.
It’s also possible the final art changes before runDisney makes it official. Leaked graphics aren’t always the finished version, and a pulled image gives Disney a chance to swap a backdrop or two if it wants.
When is the 2027 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend?
runDisney hasn’t announced 2027 dates, prices or registration. “Dates, prices, and registration for 2027 remain unannounced,” BlogMickey wrote.
For reference, the 2026 weekend ran Oct. 23 to 25 at Disney World. Registration opened in February, and every race sold out.
The 2026 themes were the Aristocats for the 5K, the Three Caballeros for the 10K, Mary Poppins for the half and Grumpy for the challenge.
The 2026 lineup did match characters to their home pavilions in a couple of spots, with the Aristocats at France and the Three Caballeros at Mexico, per BlogMickey. That’s part of why the 2027 mix-up stood out so fast.
How much does runDisney Wine and Dine cost?
Here’s what 2026 cost with fees, per BlogMickey and Inside the Magic:
5K: $125
10K: $175
Half marathon: $269
Two Course Challenge: $449
Prices tend to creep up each year, so expect 2027 to land at or above those numbers.
What do runners get for the race themes?
The themes drive the race medals and the official merchandise, which is why runners care so much. A Pinocchio 10K medal or an Elsa half marathon medal is what a lot of people sign up for.
If the leak holds, Muppets fans finally get a Sam Eagle challenge medal. For a character known for patriotic speeches, a 19.3-mile challenge themed to The American Adventure feels about right.
