Sadie Sink's X-Men comments point to a 2027 shoot
The Jean Grey actress told Vanity Fair she’ll film X-Men before an FX and A24 series she’s doing next year, which is more of a production update than Marvel has given. D23 opens in one week.
Marvel Studios has not announced a release date for its X-Men reboot. Sadie Sink just gave the closest thing to a schedule anyone has.
Asked by Vanity Fair what her calendar looks like, Sink said the mutant film comes first: “We’ll shoot X-Men, and then I’m going to do a series“ with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot, which she placed next year.
Read plainly, that puts X-Men cameras rolling ahead of a 2027 series commitment. Marvel has confirmed none of it.
What Sadie Sink said about the X-Men schedule
Sink was revealed as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is how Marvel chose to walk mutants into the shared universe rather than announcing it outright.
She told Vanity Fair the plan struck her as clever, introducing one important mutant through Spider-Man before the team film arrives.
She also said the freed-up schedule feels strange. Stranger Things is finished, so next year has no Atlanta shoot in it for the first time in a decade.
On the character itself, she talked about starting Jean at the difficult end of the power, the part where a person is still finding out what they can do and what it costs.
Who else is in Marvel’s X-Men reboot
Careful here, because the casting is moving fast and most of it isn’t official.
Jake Schreier is directing. Deadline has reported that Samara Weaving was offered the role of Emma Frost, and that Kit Connor read for Cyclops.
Sink says she’s being kept out of that process on purpose and finds out from Schreier. Asked directly about Connor auditioning to play her character’s love interest, she said she never knows what’s official and what’s a rumor.
Which is a useful thing for a reader to hear from the person closest to it. If the lead doesn’t know who’s playing Scott Summers, nobody posting a casting scoop this week does either.
She did say a good cast is coming together and that the announcement will land.
D23 is one week away
The place an announcement like that would land is already on the calendar.
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event runs August 14 through 16 in Anaheim, and the Disney Entertainment Showcase at the Honda Center on Friday the 14th is the film, television, and streaming presentation.
That’s where Marvel has historically put dates, casts, and first looks in front of a room of people who will react loudly enough to make the clip travel.
Nothing is promised. Disney’s published programming lists the showcase, not its contents, and studios pull things from these slates all the time.
But an X-Men cast that Sink says is coming together, a director attached, a Jean Grey already introduced in the biggest movie of the year, and a Disney fan event in seven days is a lot of pieces sitting in one place.
If the reveal doesn’t come August 14, the next question is why.
