Carowinds added Sundays to its Halloween event starting Sept. 27. This year’s SCarowinds has a Friday the 13th maze, three new scare zones, and a separate Conjuring experience.
Carowinds just gave Halloween fans one more night a week to get scared.
“Sunday Funday just became Sunday FRIGHTday,” the Charlotte theme park posted on X on Sept. 27. “SCarowinds opens its gates every Sunday starting TODAY!”
That means the park’s nighttime Halloween event now runs on Sundays for the rest of the season. SCarowinds runs on select nights from Sept. 11 through Nov. 1, per Carowinds.
What are the SCarowinds hours on Sundays?
Sunday nights run 7 to 11 p.m., per Attractions Magazine’s event guide. The other nights run until midnight, starting at 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
Check the Six Flags app or the Carowinds calendar before you go, since hours can shift by night.
What’s new at SCarowinds 2026?
The big one is a new maze: JASON: Blood Reign.
It’s based on the “Friday the 13th” movies. Carowinds says guests walk into “the dark woods surrounding the legendary summer camp” and “retrace the blood-soaked events that made Jason Voorhees the most feared slasher ever.”
There are also three new scare zones this year, per Carowinds:
Carnevil: Midway of Mayhem, with evil street performers
Lost Souls, about a dark cult
Restricted, where a failed 1959 weapons test brought mannequins to life
New shows include The Resurgence, which kicks off each night, a fire-and-blade drum show called Blade Drummers: The Sacrifice, the Sinister Slide Squad and Incantations with the Enchantress.
What haunted mazes are at SCarowinds?
Five, including Jason. The returning mazes are:
Paranormal Inc., set in an abandoned hospital; Slaughterhouse, set in a shut-down meatpacking plant; Silver Scream Studios: Director’s Cut, a haunted movie studio; and The Toothfairy, a nightmare version of a kid’s bedroom.
Returning scare zones The Hollow and Grave Garden are back too, along with the shows The Spectral Sisters and Wake the Dead.
There’s even a themed bar. Mullins Workshop Bar serves drinks inspired by the Conjuring movies, per Carowinds.
How much does SCarowinds cost?
Park admission gets you into the scare zones, shows and rides after dark. The mazes cost extra.
A Haunted Attractions Pass for maze access starts at $10 for a single night, not including park admission, per Carowinds. Attractions Magazine says the pass runs $10 to $25, depending on the night. Bundles with park admission and maze access start at $55. Online purchases carry a processing fee of up to $9.99.
Is The Conjuring included in the maze pass?
No. The Conjuring: Beyond Fear needs its own ticket.
In it, guests play paranormal investigators and run into Annabelle and other characters from Warner Bros.’ Conjuring movies, per Carowinds. The Haunted Attractions Pass does not cover it.
What are the rules at SCarowinds?
Leave the costume at home. Guests can’t wear masks, costumes or face paint, per Six Flags’ event guide. There’s no re-entry, no filming inside the mazes, and the park is cashless.
If you’d rather not get scared, grab a No-BOO Necklace. Monsters are supposed to leave you alone when you’re wearing one.
Can kids go to SCarowinds?
Carowinds says SCarowinds is “not recommended for children under 13.” Guests 15 and younger need a chaperone who is at least 21, starting at 2 p.m. each day, per Six Flags.
For younger kids, the park’s daytime Tricks and Treats event has trick-or-treating and costume fun, included with admission.
If you’re heading out on a Sunday, the shorter hours mean less time to do it all. Buy the maze pass ahead of time, start with the scare zones near the front and save Jason for last. He’ll wait. He always does.
