SeaWorld Orlando added a new scare zone to Howl-O-Scream 2026 called Just One More Chapter, and it’s made for people whose bookshelves lean a little dark. Think masked men, obsession, and love stories that go very, very wrong.
Fans have been buzzing about it online since the event opened Sept. 11. Many others think it’s weird.
What is Just One More Chapter at Howl-O-Scream?
It’s an outdoor scare zone, which means scare actors roam a themed area of the park instead of inside a haunted house.
SeaWorld sets this one in an enchanted gothic garden. Here’s how the park pitches it on its website: “If your bookshelf is filled with toxic obsession, masked men, and the most twisted love stories, this is the scare zone you’ve been waiting for.”
The description also promises “cursed romance” and creatures that are as dangerous as they are captivating. So, a normal Tuesday for a romance reader.

Is the SeaWorld scare zone romantasy or dark romance?
A little of both, depending on who you ask.
Some headlines have called it a “romantasy” scare zone. Romantasy is the book genre that mixes romance and fantasy, usually with fae, dragons or magic. The enchanted garden and creatures fit that part.
But SeaWorld’s own description leans harder into dark romance. That’s the corner of the romance world where the love interest is dangerous, and the masked-man stalker is one of its best-known tropes. SeaWorld never actually uses the word “romantasy” on its attractions page.
Why is SeaWorld’s dark romance scare zone going viral?

When is Howl-O-Scream 2026 at SeaWorld Orlando?
Howl-O-Scream runs select nights from Sept. 11 through Oct. 31, according to SeaWorld.
It’s a separately ticketed event, so your regular daytime ticket won’t get you in. Doors open in the evening, and the scares start after dark. Check SeaWorld’s calendar for exact nights before you plan a trip.
How much are Howl-O-Scream Orlando tickets?
Single-night tickets start at $47.99, according to SeaWorld and Disney Food Blog. Prices change by night, and multi-night passes cost more.
Busy October weekends usually cost more than early weeknights. If you’re flexible, going in September is often the cheaper move.

There are also five haunted houses, including I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch, which is based on the horror movie series. The others are Everything Must Stay, The Dark Net, The Crawl Space and the returning Rave Yard.
Add in themed bars, shows, and a few coasters running at night, including Mako, and it’s a full evening.
Is Howl-O-Scream scary for first-timers?
A lot of fans see it as a gentler option than Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights across town. Disney Food Blog called it a good fit for people “just entering the horror scene.”
That said, it’s still a horror event. The houses have jump scares, loud noises and fog. SeaWorld doesn’t list an age limit on its attractions page, so parents should look over the lineup before bringing younger kids.
When did SeaWorld announce Just One More Chapter?
Back in July. SeaWorld revealed the scare zone over the summer, well before the event opened, Main Street Magic reported.
The real buzz started once guests walked through it in September and started posting. It turns out nothing sells a scare zone like a few thousand readers saying, “Wait, they made this for us?”
