A new tour of a theme park view room at the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel shows a light-up castle headboard, Tinker Bell touches and 10th anniversary gifts, weeks before the resort’s third hotel opens.
Ever wondered what it’s like to wake up across the lake from a Disney castle in China? WDWNT just toured a theme park view room at the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, and it looks like a lot of fun.
The room sleeps up to four adults, with two queen beds plus a small pull-down bed across from them by the TV, WDWNT reported on Oct. 31. A big window looks out toward the park and Enchanted Storybook Castle, and the writer said you can hear park music from inside the room.
Here’s WDWNT’s full room tour video:
What does a Shanghai Disneyland Hotel room look like?
The hotel’s style is Art Nouveau, all curves and flowers, and the room follows suit. One headboard shows Tinker Bell, the other shows the castle, with a hidden Mickey worked into the curved wood and a mirror in between.
The best trick is in the headboards themselves. Fiber-optic lights make fireworks twinkle over the castle and pixie dust sparkle around Tinker Bell, according to WDWNT.
Pull the fold-down bed out and there’s a picture of Mickey asleep underneath. The rest of the room has floral carpet, dusty-blue curtains, a corner chair with hidden Mickeys in the fabric, a Mickey and friends music-note border on the wall and a print of Mickey conducting an orchestra.
What’s in the bathroom at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel?
The bathroom hides behind a sliding mirror door. WDWNT said it has a Toto Washlet, a high-tech toilet popular in China, plus a fish print from Fantasia hanging nearby.
There’s a tub and shower combo with a Mickey shower curtain, toiletries for both adults and babies, and an embroidered hotel robe. The room also has a coffee maker, a water dispenser, a mini fridge, USB and USB-C outlets and a safe.
What do you get for Shanghai Disney’s 10th anniversary?
A surprising amount of free stuff. Shanghai Disney Resort turned 10 this year, and WDWNT found a 10th anniversary caddy in the closet with a gift bag and slippers.
The room also had personalized cups, a Mickey and friends mug to take home, a tin with a small towel, character cards on lanyards, postcards and a mini “10” puzzle of Mickey and Minnie in front of the castle.
That lines up with what Disney promised for the birthday. The year-long “With You, It’s Magic+” celebration started March 20, 2026, and includes in-room birthday surprises and a hidden “10” hunt at the resort’s hotels, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
The parks side got a new castle show called “The Heart of Magic,” new parade floats and a new finale for the Illuminate! nighttime show.
How much does a room at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel cost?
WDWNT didn’t share what it paid, and rates move a lot with dates. Check the Shanghai Disney Resort website or app for current prices before you plan around a castle view.
How many hotels does Shanghai Disney Resort have?
Two right now, with a third on the way. The Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the Toy Story Hotel both opened with the resort on June 16, 2016.
The third, the Enchanted Star Hotel, opens Dec. 16, 2026, with 400 rooms, Disney Experiences announced. PNP covered that one on Oct. 30.
It’s a nine-story Art Nouveau building inspired by early 1900s Shanghai, and it sits right next to the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel on Wishing Star Lake. A connector will let guests at both hotels share pools, gyms, play areas, shops and restaurants.
Bookings for the Enchanted Star open at midnight Shanghai time on Friday, Nov. 6, starting with select room types, according to Disney Experiences.
Is Shanghai Disneyland worth the trip?
If you collect Disney castles, it’s a big one, and the 10th anniversary year gives it extra sparkle. The resort only has one theme park, though, so a couple of days covers a lot.
Fair warning for the planners: a report this past week said Disney may have put a second Shanghai park on the back burner. So don’t hold your breath for a two-park Shanghai trip anytime soon. The light-up headboard will have to do.
