A video on Reddit shows smoke billowing from the Yacht Club at Walt Disney World.
According to the poster, it only lasted a couple of minutes and then was gone.
This is the second time smoke has been seen from resorts located in the Boardwalk area behind EPCOT. A couple of weeks ago, the Dolphin Resort also had a small fire from the Bourbon Steak Restaurant.
The smoke was over quickly, but an alert was issued.
What caused the smoke?
We don’t know, but given that the smoke ended quickly, it could have been a kitchen fire, and the system to evacuate the smoke did its job.
Someone in the comments also said as much,
“Could have been a fire in one of the kitchens. And this was the exhaust system doing its job to get all the smoke out (which is what happened at Dolphin recently)” - crazyparkguy
A commenter mentioned construction in the area as well.
“Yikes! It’s not on the same side as Ale and Compass or the Steakhouse, thankfully. My guess is that it’s related to renovation work they’ve been doing to the outside lately.” -Shimola1999
Someone else pointed out that the AC or exhaust could have broken,
“Every AC and kitchen exhaust unit has been running at 100% speed for a month straight. Things start to break. 25 years working in hotels and restaurantss summer in Florida is getting worse” - ChefCourtB
Some of the comments were funny because the original poster asked if this was “normal”.
“It’s the daily burning of tires. Regular tickets are only $95, but for $225 they let you stand really close.” - Material-Park-673
“I believe the smoke signals they’ve picked a new captain” - Objective_Topside18
“WDW has elected a new Mouse” - Dismalresearcher1115
“That’s the new smoking area.” - Ok-Rooster4713
“Controlled hotel burn, normal” -ckouf96
“Probably a controlled burn of the resort to manage guests”-Cubedycubed
“Annual sacrifice of Mickey bars to curry favor with the gods to not let them share a direct bus route with Art of Animation.” - Firm_Accountant2219
“That’s what they were trying to do with the Hollywood Tower Hotel... didn’t work out so well in that case.” - Thespis64
The internet has a sense of humor and never disappoints.
I do not believe anyone was injured. Hopefully, there is no damage.
