Apple TV's new Peanuts holiday special premieres Friday, Nov. 13, with new songs from John Legend, Laufey, and Kamasi Washington with Leon Bridges.
Snoopy, the most famous beagle on the planet, is in trouble with Santa.
Apple TV released the first trailer on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for Snoopy Presents: 12 Days of Snoopy, a new Peanuts holiday special premiering Friday, Nov. 13, only on Apple TV.
Here's the setup. The Peanuts kids are on their best behavior, but Snoopy has landed on Santa's naughty list. With 12 days until Christmas, he sets out to prove he's not such a bad beagle after all, Apple says. Along the way, he figures out the season is about more than gifts.
Honestly, anyone who's watched Snoopy swipe Linus' blanket over the decades saw this coming.
The soundtrack is stacked. John Legend sings "Get Ready," produced by Raphael Saadiq. Kamasi Washington and Leon Bridges team up on "Trying To Get There." Laufey covers "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Here's the trailer:
When does 12 Days of Snoopy come out?
Friday, Nov. 13, on Apple TV, the streamer formerly called Apple TV+. You'll need a subscription to watch it on premiere day.
Peanuts and WildBrain produce the special, based on Charles M. Schulz's comic strip. Emmy-nominated composer Jeff Morrow wrote the score. Executive producers include Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba and Mark Evestaff.
Apple hasn't announced a voice cast or runtime yet. Snoopy doesn't talk anyway, so expect a lot of expressive ear work.
Can you watch A Charlie Brown Christmas for free?
Yes, on one weekend. Apple TV is streaming the classic Peanuts holiday specials free on set dates:
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving: Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15, the day after 12 Days of Snoopy premieres
A Charlie Brown Christmas: Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12 and 13
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown already had its free weekend Oct. 17 and 18 for its 60th anniversary. Subscribers can watch all three any time.
That makes Nov. 13 to 15 a pretty great weekend to be a Peanuts fan. New special on Friday, a free Thanksgiving classic on Saturday, and a whole extra day to rewatch both.
What other Snoopy Presents specials are there?
12 Days of Snoopy is the latest in Apple's Snoopy Presents line. Earlier specials include:
For Auld Lang Syne (2021), a New Year's special
Lucy's School, To Mom (and Dad), With Love and It's the Small Things, Charlie Brown
One-of-a-Kind Marcie (2023)
Welcome Home, Franklin (2024)
A Summer Musical (2025)
There's No Place Like Home, Snoopy (July 31, 2026), where Snoopy's doghouse accidentally gets sold at a yard sale
That's a busy year for one beagle. Apple also debuted Camp Snoopy Season 2 in June and added the 1980s series The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show to its library this summer.
Apple is the exclusive streaming home for Peanuts through 2030, under a deal with WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions. A new animated movie, Snoopy Unleashed, is in production. In it, Snoopy runs away, and the gang heads to the Big City to find him.
Where else will Snoopy be this holiday season?
In the sky over Manhattan. Snoopy is getting a new balloon for the 100th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 26, this time as his alter ego Joe Cool, with Woodstock along for the ride.
Macy's says the balloon's sunglasses are 40 times the size of a normal pair. Snoopy would need a doghouse 45 feet tall to fit inside.
Between the parade, a free Charlie Brown weekend and a brand-new special, Peanuts fans have a pretty full calendar. Santa's list, apparently, is the only place Snoopy isn't welcome.
