A SAG-AFTRA listing points to a short-form series inspired by the EPCOT attraction, visiting Disney Junior shows. Disney has not announced it, and the listing is the only source.
A SAG-AFTRA casting listing points to a Disney Junior series built around one of EPCOT’s most recognizable attractions.
Disney Television Animation is developing a short-form series under the title Soarin’ Over Disney Jr., per the listing.
The premise, as the title suggests, is a series of shorts taking viewers across various Disney Junior shows in the style of the ride.
What Soarin’ Over Disney Jr. would be
The concept adapts a very specific attraction format into television.
Soarin’ puts guests in a suspended hang-glider seat facing a curved screen, flying over landmarks with scent and wind effects. It opened at Disney California Adventure in 2001 and at EPCOT in 2005, and it has been reworked since as Soarin’ Around the World.
That is a reasonable fit for Disney Junior, where the audience watches multiple shows and crossovers are a normal part of the block.
What has not been announced
Disney has made no announcement. There is no confirmed episode count, release window, platform, voice cast, or creative team.
A SAG-AFTRA listing indicates a production is casting union performers. It does not indicate a greenlit series, a finished order, or a project that will necessarily reach air under that title.
Working titles change. Development projects get shelved. Both happen constantly and neither generates a press release.
Why Disney adapts attractions into shows
Disney has repeatedly turned attractions into filmed entertainment, most successfully with Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion, and has turned films into attractions far more often than that.
A Disney Junior short-form series is a considerably smaller version of the same instinct, and it costs almost nothing relative to a feature.
It also introduces a park attraction to an audience of preschoolers whose families may be planning a first trip, which is the kind of quiet synergy Disney rarely explains and consistently executes.
Nothing here is confirmed. If Disney announces it, the details will look different from a casting listing.
