Toma Empanadas hit more than 240 Denny’s restaurants Oct. 28, with two flavors you can’t get anywhere else. Plus, a free veterans meal, a truffle sauce stunt and Trader Joe’s new muffins.
Denny’s is adding empanadas, and they come with a famous name attached.
Sofia Vergara and her son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, are bringing their brand, Toma Empanadas, to more than 240 Denny’s restaurants starting Wednesday, Oct. 28, Sporked reported.
There’s a catch, though. For now, they’re only in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida.
Here’s what’s on the menu, plus five more food finds from this week.
What empanadas is Denny’s adding?
Four of them, and two are made just for Denny’s, according to Sporked:
Bacon, Egg and Cheese, a Denny’s exclusive with bacon, scrambled eggs, cheddar, peppers and onions, served with salsa.
Guava and Cheese, the other exclusive, with sweet guava and creamy white cheese, served with vanilla cream.
Chicken in Salsa Verde, with pulled chicken, served with red salsa.
Beef, with seasoned beef, tomatoes, onions and Kalamata olives, served with salsa.
The guava one is basically dessert. The bacon, egg and cheese is basically a breakfast burrito in a different coat.
How much are the Denny’s empanadas?
At the restaurant, two empanadas with chips and salsa cost $13.99. You can add one empanada to another meal for $5.99, and they’re also part of the Triple Play Combo.
For takeout and delivery, one empanada and a drink is $8.99, and two empanadas and a drink is $14.99, Sporked reported.
What is Shake Shack’s Black Truffle Window?
A very New York stunt. Shake Shack’s Black Truffle sauce is back for the season. For two days, the chain is running a pop-up window where you can bring in any food and get it drizzled with the sauce.
“You bring it, we will truffle it,” Shake Shack said, according to Sporked.
It’s at 204 Mulberry St. in New York City. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. It isn’t inside a Shake Shack, which probably makes the health inspectors happier.
Is Red Robin free on Veterans Day?
For veterans and active-duty military members, yes. Red Robin is giving away a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries for Veterans Day, Sporked reported.
You’ll need a valid military ID or proof of service, and it’s dine-in only. No other purchase is required.
Red Robin was the first chain Sporked saw announce a 2026 Veterans Day deal. Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Lobster both had free meal offers for veterans last year, so more are likely on the way.
Are Trader Joe’s Cornbread Muffins back?
They’re new, and people are already comparing them to a discontinued favorite. Trader Joe’s new Cornbread Muffins come in a four-pack for $5.49, Sporked reported.
They’re made with corn kernels and honey and topped with cornmeal. On Reddit, shoppers are hoping they taste like Entenmann’s old corn muffins, which the brand dropped.
They’re limited-time, and some shoppers in Los Angeles said they’ve had a hard time finding them so far.
Is there a Chick-fil-A diner?
There are three, and they’re all in Georgia. Truett’s Grill is a 1950s-style diner from Chick-fil-A, named for founder Truett Cathy, according to Sporked.
The first one opened in Morrow in 1996, for Cathy’s 50th year in the restaurant business. The others are in Griffin and McDonough.
It has a sit-down dining room, a counter and a drive-thru, plus the full Chick-fil-A menu and Southern dishes like a Hot Brown and Sweet Potato Souffle. “You get real plates and glasses and lovely Southern foods. And a server!” one Reddit user wrote.
What did Burger King Japan take off its burgers?
Everything but the beef. Burger King Japan ran a six-day menu called On The Beef, which wrapped up Oct. 22, Sporked reported.
It was just beef patties, seasoned or sauced, served on parchment paper. No bun, no cheese, no veggies. A single patty cost 450 yen, about $2.85, which was more than a regular cheeseburger there.
So that’s this week’s lineup. If you’re in one of those four states, the Denny’s guava empanada might be worth the trip by itself.
