Spaceship Earth and Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid To Close For Refurbishment
Heads up if you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in the next few months. There will be some attraction closures to be aware of. Disney just announced two more popular attractions that will temporarily close in the next couple of months.
Spaceship Earth at EPCOT will be closing on August 25 for a refurbishment.
The icon of EPCOT will be closing down for an unknown period of time for a refurbishment. We do not yet know when it will reopen, only that it will return “later this year.”
I doubt this will be the previously announced version that practically changed everything. However, rumors are swirling that the “choose-your-own-future” at the end of the ride could be updated or changed.
Personally, I would just like the animated chariot to run again and something like the fiber optic ending to return because the animated choice thing is really stupid.
Also, let’s hope they redo the interactive area at the end of the ride because it’s all dated.
Over at the Magic Kingdom the Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid will also close for refurbishment on July 21.
This refurbishment will be much shorter with a reopening date of July 26 already scheduled.
Basic maintenance and refresh for this one.
Remember Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin will also shut down at the Magic Kingdom starting on August 4, 2025.
This one is going to be huge and will include improvements and enhancements to the attraction, new ride vehicles, and a new scene.
Thankfully the Little Mermaid ride will be back up quickly because the Magic Kingdom doesn’t need any more closures.
