Tom Holland’s record-breaking Spider-Man movie goes on sale digitally Tuesday, Oct. 6, for $29.99, or $24.99 to rent. The 4K, Blu-ray and DVD versions follow Dec. 15.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is about to leave theaters and land on your couch.
The movie goes on sale digitally on Tuesday, Oct. 6. It costs $29.99 to buy or $24.99 to rent, and a rental gives you 48 hours to finish it.
You’ll find it on Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube.
Look at those two prices again. Renting saves you five bucks. If there’s any chance you’ll watch it twice, buying is the easy call.
When does Spider-Man: Brand New Day come out on 4K and Blu-ray?
The disc versions come out Tuesday, Dec. 15, on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
There’s also a Limited Collector’s Edition in steelbook packaging, with exclusive extras, out the same day. Dec. 15 is 10 days before Christmas, in case you’re making a list.
What bonus features come with Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Sony’s home release includes an outtakes reel and nine featurettes.
Topics include director Destin Daniel Cretton‘s take on the movie, the cast on set, the stunt work, the costumes and the practical effects. There’s also a gallery of behind-the-scenes photos.
How fast did Spider-Man: Brand New Day come to digital?
Fast, for a movie this big. Brand New Day opened in theaters July 31, so Tuesday’s digital release lands 67 days later.
Tom Holland’s last Spider-Man movie took longer. Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters Dec. 17, 2021, and didn’t arrive on digital until March 22, 2022. That’s 95 days, about four weeks more.
And Brand New Day is still selling tickets. It made about $2.45 million in theaters over the weekend, its 10th.
Here’s the final trailer, if you need a refresher:
How much has Spider-Man: Brand New Day made at the box office?
A lot. As of Oct. 5, it has made about $954.5 million in North America, the biggest domestic total of any movie ever. That’s ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $936.7 million.
It also had the biggest opening weekend in history, $360.1 million. Avengers: Endgame held that record before at $357.1 million.
Worldwide, it’s at about $2.5 billion. That puts it third all-time, behind Avengers: Endgame and Avatar.
Both of the movies ahead of it belong to Disney now. Avatar came over when Disney bought 20th Century Fox.
Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Disney+ or Netflix?
Not yet. Digital purchase and rental come first.
In the U.S., Sony’s movies have been going to Netflix first and Disney+ later, so that’s the order to expect for Brand New Day. Neither service has announced a date.
Is an extended cut of Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming?
It might be. Deadline reported on Sept. 28 that Sony is planning a theatrical re-release with extra footage.
That footage reportedly includes a scene with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, the nurse she played across Marvel’s Netflix shows, including Daredevil. Dawson said after the movie came out that she had filmed a scene that didn’t make the final cut.
The report said the re-release isn’t expected right away. It’ll likely wait for a slower stretch at the box office.
So if you buy it Tuesday, you may get a second excuse to see it in theaters later.
