Spider-Man handmade poster artist says theater removed the art as to not upset Sony
Spooderman artist has been revealed
A theater employee drew a Spider-Man: Brand New Day poster when the location did not get an official poster. The art, now known as “Spooderman,” quickly went viral, but sadly the image was removed so as not to anger the studio.
The artist behind the Spooderman poster has been identified as Drake Landon via a Reddit post he made.
Drake had drawn a Spider-Man poster for his Cineplex theater workplace when they did not receive an official one.
The art quickly went viral online, but his employer made him take it down.
Here is what Drake said,
“So yes, I’m the Spooder man poster artist.
And yes I’m revealing myself, because I honestly don’t care at this point.
Didn’t do a post saying i did it because I was worried of being called a fraud.
But I have the poster back, but sadly due to my boss telling me that head office called and asked for it to be taken down, for reasons that make sense now I realize. I don’t wanna upset the studio so yeah. But I plan on copying and printing a limited amount and/or making re-drawn duplicates.
If anyone has questions feel free to ask, may not be able to respond to all, sorry in advance :/”
IGN said that the viral art piece got Drake a free table at his local comic convention.
