Stitch caught a guest dropping to one knee at his Magic Kingdom meet-and-greet before the guy's girlfriend did, and WDWNT shared his shocked reaction Friday. She said yes.
Stitch saw it coming before she did. A guest proposed to his girlfriend at Stitch's meet-and-greet in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, and the little blue alien noticed the bended knee first, WDW News Today reported Friday, Nov. 6.
She was busy chatting with Stitch when her boyfriend got down on one knee behind her. Stitch reacted in shock, WDWNT said. That's a lot of reacting for a guy who's mostly ears.
She turned around. Stitch stepped aside while her boyfriend gave his speech, then turned his attention to whoever was filming. A PhotoPass photographer rushed in to grab shots of the couple and the ring.
"She said yes," WDWNT reported.
For the record, Experiment 626 was literally built to destroy things. Crashing a proposal would have been on brand. He behaved.
The clip comes from an Instagram reel. WDWNT didn't say what day the proposal happened.
Here's a look at Stitch's meet-and-greet at Magic Kingdom:
Where does Stitch meet guests at Magic Kingdom?
In Tomorrowland, under the PeopleMover track between Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress and the exit of Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. It used to be Buzz's meet-and-greet spot. Meeting Stitch is included with park admission.
In July, Disney swapped the Buzz-themed backdrop for a lit-up spaceship window with stars, planets and Earth, BlogMickey and WDWNT reported. A dimmed "Space Ranger Map" sign still hangs above it, a leftover from the Buzz days. Buzz hadn't met there regularly in a while.
Stitch used to pop up there as a rotating "surprise" character, trading off with space-cadet Chip 'n' Dale. BlogMickey reported in July that it had become a "somewhat permanent" Stitch meet-and-greet.
How long is the wait to meet Stitch at Magic Kingdom?
It varies. Meet times are listed in the My Disney Experience app and can change daily. Tap the map pin, pick Characters, choose Magic Kingdom and look for Stitch, ResortsGal suggests.
ResortsGal reported waiting 33 minutes for a 3:30 p.m. set, with more than 40 guests in line, mostly in direct sun. Bring water and a hat.
Stitch signs autographs and goes along with silly poses. A PhotoPass photographer is often on hand, too, which one couple just found very useful.
What happened to Stitch's Great Escape?
Stitch has had a Tomorrowland address for a while. Stitch's Great Escape! opened on Nov. 16, 2004, replacing ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.
The theater show went seasonal after October 2016 and last operated on Jan. 6, 2018. Disney confirmed in July 2020 that it had closed for good. In October 2017, part of its preshow area became a Stitch character greeting.
These days he works the meet-and-greet circuit and, apparently, the occasional proposal.
What is Stitch doing for the holidays at Disney World?
Plenty. Here's his calendar, by our count:
Stitchmas!: A new dance party hosted by Lilo and Stitch at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, on select nights Nov. 8 through Dec. 22, BlogMickey reported. Disney hasn't named the "few friends" joining them. We covered it Nov. 5. Party tickets run $189 to $229 plus tax.
Stitch Christmas Tree Sipper: Stitch dressed as a Christmas tree, holding a candy cane. It launched Nov. 6 for $22.99 with any fountain drink, BlogMickey reported, and it's sold in all four parks.
Halloween warm-up: At Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Stitch hosted "A Masquerade with Stitch" at Rockettower Plaza Stage, and Angel joined him, BlogMickey reported.
If you're planning a Magic Kingdom proposal of your own, Tomorrowland apparently comes with a built-in witness.
