Taco Bell Is Partying Like It's 1999 With Retro Y2K Menu
Remember when Taco Bell was affordable? The fast-food restaurant is diving back into early‑2000s nostalgia with its Decades Y2K Menu, set to debut nationwide on September 9, 2025. The limited-time offering revives five iconic fan favorites from the late 1990s and early 2000s—all priced at $3 or less, ensuring both affordability and familiarity for fans.
Returning Favorites Worth Remembering
The revamped lineup includes:
Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco: The tangy cousin to the Nacho Cheese version, returning after being discontinued in 2019.
Double Decker Taco: A soft-shell wrapper around a crunchy taco shell, retired in 2019 and now making a nostalgic comeback.
7‑Layer Burrito: A vegetarian staple packed with beans, rice, guac, and cheese—returning after a 2020 discontinuation.
Chili Cheese Burrito: Originally launched in the early ’90s and beloved by fans, it’s back on menus nationwide for the first time since its mid‑’90s phase‑out.
Caramel Apple Empanada: A sweet seasonal treat filled with apple and caramel, making another seasonal return.
Rewards, Merchandise, and Digital Fun
Taco Bell Rewards members will receive exclusive early access to the Caramel Apple Empanada starting September 2. Alongside the food offerings, Taco Bell is dropping a line of Y2K-themed merchandise throughout early September. Fans can get their hands on a digital Y2K-style watch, retro hats, vintage-inspired shirts, and collaborative pieces designed with Ed Hardy.
McDonalds did the same thing with the Mcdonald land Menu.
The nostalgia doesn’t end there—Taco Bell has introduced Crunchkin, a virtual taco-pet companion in its app. Inspired by Tamagotchi-style pets, Crunchkin evolves and unlocks mini-games as users purchase from the Y2K menu. Additionally, the promotion celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Crunchwrap Supreme, offering a special $9 Discovery Luxe Box featuring the iconic item.
A Nostalgic Experience for All Ages
“This isn’t just about the menu,” said Taco Bell Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery. “It’s about reliving the flavors, the fashion, and the fun that made that moment in time unforgettable—and letting our fans be the first to live it all over again.” The promotion taps into the current revival of Y2K style in fashion and culture, offering a multi-sensory nostalgic experience.
