Tom Felton's final Broadway show as Draco Malfoy is 59 days away. Holiday-week matinees were listed from about $208 on Thursday, so the $40 lottery is worth a shot.
Planning a holiday trip to New York? Circle Sunday, Jan. 3, 2027. That's Tom Felton's last performance as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, 59 days from today.
The show's producers said Wednesday, Nov. 4, who comes next. Ben Thys, who originated Draco on the North American tour, takes over Jan. 5.
Felton's exit date was set in August, when the official Harry Potter site called his latest extension the final one. What's new is the lineup around him.
Rupert Grint still arrives as Ron Weasley on Feb. 2, as we reported in August. Felton will be gone a month by then, so there's no night with both film stars.
Here's a look at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway:
When is Tom Felton's last Cursed Child show?
Jan. 3, at the Lyric. Felton debuted as Draco, his role from the films, on Nov. 11, 2025. He was the first original movie cast member to join the play, Broadway.com reported.
His run was first set to end May 10, 2026. Then Nov. 1. Now Jan. 3. By our math, that's about 14 months of Draco on Broadway.
His August schedule listed no planned days off after Nov. 2, but check the show's social accounts before you go.
What is the full Cursed Child cast timeline?
Here's who plays whom, and when:
Nov. 10: Jocelyn Maher makes her Broadway debut as Ginny, succeeding Trish Lindstrom. Matt Harrington comes from the tour to play Ron through Jan. 31, succeeding Daniel Fredrick.
Through Jan. 3: Felton as Draco, with Aidan Close as Scorpius.
Jan. 5: Thys as Draco. Broadway company veteran Erik Christopher Peterson returns as Scorpius through Jan. 31.
Feb. 2: Grint as Ron through May 30, with Cody Combs making his Broadway debut as Scorpius.
Staying put: John Skelley (Harry), Emmet Smith (Albus), Rachel Christopher (Hermione), Janae Hammond (Rose Granger-Weasley) and Kristen Martin (Delphi Diggory).
So Draco gets two actors this winter and his son Scorpius gets three. Being a Malfoy was never simple.
Grint's 17-week run isn't his Broadway debut. He was in It's Only a Play in 2014. "Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old," he said in August.
How much are Cursed Child tickets?
The official Harry Potter site says tickets start at $80, and Broadway.com lists them from about $74. Holiday week costs more. When we checked Broadway.com Thursday, the Dec. 26 and Dec. 27 matinees started at $208.12 in the balcony and topped out at $565 in the orchestra.
The cheapest legit option is the Friday Forty lottery:
Price: $40 a ticket
Where: The TodayTix app only
When: Entries open Mondays at 12:01 a.m. and close Fridays at 1 p.m. ET
For: The following week's shows, with winners notified Friday afternoon
How long is Cursed Child, and can kids go?
Plan on 2 hours and 55 minutes, with one intermission. The old two-part version became a single show in 2021.
The recommended age is 8 and up, per ATG Tickets. Kids under 5 aren't admitted, anyone under 15 needs an adult along, and everyone needs a ticket.
The story picks up 19 years after Deathly Hallows, so it helps if the kids have finished the series.
Where is the Lyric Theatre?
The address is 214 W. 43rd St., but the Lyric has entrances on both 42nd and 43rd streets. The accessible entrance and elevator are on the 42nd Street side, according to TDF.
TDF lists a dozen subway lines to 42nd Street, including the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q and R.
Making a day of it? The three-floor Harry Potter New York store is at 935 Broadway, next to the Flatiron Building.
Where else can Harry Potter fans go this holiday season?
Universal's Wizarding World is decked out, too. Its holiday seasons on both coasts end Jan. 3, the same day as Felton's last show.
Universal Orlando: Nov. 14 through Jan. 3, with the nightly Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle show in Hogsmeade and Christmas decor in Epic Universe's Ministry of Magic.
Universal Studios Hollywood: Nov. 21 through Jan. 3, with the Frog Choir, hot Butterbeer and its own castle projection show.
Fun overlap: Epic Universe's Battle at the Ministry ride is set after the books, with Umbridge chasing the Ministry's Time-Turners. Cursed Child runs on a Time-Turner plot, too.
Staying home? HBO's new Harry Potter series premieres Dec. 25 on HBO Max, starting over with the first book.
So the plan writes itself: lottery on Monday, Butterbeer by Christmas, Draco by Jan. 3.
