The bakery behind it confirmed the return Nov. 3, and the "110/10" review fans keep quoting is a Reddit comment Allrecipes has run since 2023. Trader Joe's Kringles have been $9.99, up from $7.99 in 2018.
The Trader Joe's Almond Kringle is back for the holidays, and this time the bakery made it official.
O&H Danish Bakery of Racine, Wisconsin, announced Nov. 3 that its Almond Kringle is returning to Trader Joe's stores nationwide for a limited time, "while supplies last." It replaces the Pumpkin Caramel Kringle as Trader Joe's rotating Kringle flavor.
Allrecipes picked it up Nov. 8 with a headline calling it the dessert fans rate "110/10." That score comes from Reddit user OblongAnomaly, who wrote, "The Almond Danish Kringle is stupid good, 110/10." Allrecipes has quoted that same line in its Kringle stories since at least November 2023. Some reviews age like butter.
"Almond Kringle has been a favorite of our family and our customers for generations," said Peter Olesen, O&H's president and a fourth-generation co-owner. He added, "We've loved the traction it's gained among Trader Joe's shoppers."
Here's O&H Danish Bakery showing how a Kringle gets made:
How much is the Trader Joe's Almond Kringle?
Trader Joe's doesn't post this item's price on its website, and O&H didn't give one. Its Kringles have been ringing up at $9.99, though.
Allrecipes reported in September 2025 that Trader Joe's Kringles sell for $9.99. Good Housekeeping put this summer's Cherry Almond Kringle at $9.99 for a 1.5-pound pastry.
For comparison, The Kitchn listed the Almond Kringle at $7.99 back in 2018. By our math, that's a $2 bump, or 25%, in eight years. Prices can vary by store, so check the shelf tag.
What's in a Trader Joe's Almond Kringle?
O&H describes many thin, flaky layers wrapped around a sweet almond filling, topped with smooth icing. The recipe has been passed down through the Olesen family for more than 75 years, the bakery says.
The Kitchn reported the pastry has more than 30 buttery layers and takes about three days to make. It's an oval ring big enough to feed a holiday brunch, if you're willing to share.
Heads up for allergies: it's an almond pastry from a bakery that also makes pecan Kringles, so check the label.
How long will the Almond Kringle be at Trader Joe's?
"For a limited time," per O&H, with no end date. Allrecipes reported last year that a leaked Trader Joe's store calendar shows Almond Kringles usually run from late October through December.
In 2025, shoppers spotted them as early as August, Allrecipes reported, and a commenter who said they worked at Trader Joe's said the crew was surprised, too. This year, the order went Cherry Almond in the summer, Pumpkin Caramel in the fall and now Almond for the holidays.
If your store sells out, O&H ships its Almond Kringle year-round with two-day shipping. It also sells it at its own shops in Racine, Sturtevant and Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
What is a Kringle, anyway?
It's a Danish pastry with deep Wisconsin roots. Danish immigrants brought Kringles to Racine in the late 1800s, and the Kringle is now Wisconsin's official state pastry, The Kitchn reported.
The Kitchn also said Trader Joe's shoppers once voted the Almond Kringle the best bakery item in the chain's annual Customer Choice Awards.
How do you serve a Kringle?
Room temperature works. For a warm, flaky slice, The Kitchn suggested about 3 and a half minutes at 350 degrees in the oven.
Good Housekeeping suggested freezing portions to make one last longer. Good luck with that. Another Reddit review Allrecipes quotes calls it so good "it almost makes me angry."
What else is back at Trader Joe's?
Trader Joe's $2.99 mystery bags are also back, with two new tote designs, which we covered Nov. 7. Holiday shelves are filling up fast, so the Kringle might not be the only thing in your cart.
