Universal Orlando's North Parking Garage is trading three movie sections for five themed levels: Trolls, E.T., Shrek, Minions and Transformers. Jaws outlasted his own ride in that garage by almost 15 years.
Universal Orlando's parking garage is getting a new cast, and the shark didn't make the callback list.
New signs spotted Thursday, Nov. 5, show the resort's North Parking Garage switching from three movie-themed sections to five themed levels, Attractions Magazine reported. Jaws, King Kong and Jurassic Park are on their way out.
Here's the new lineup, level by level, from the signs Attractions Magazine photographed:
Level 1: DreamWorks' Trolls, in pink
Level 2: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, in white and blue
Level 3: DreamWorks' Shrek, in green
Level 4: Illumination's Minions, in yellow and blue
Level 5: Transformers, in gray
The switch isn't finished. Attractions Magazine staff visited Thursday and said the old themes and colors should disappear over the next several days and weeks. Universal hasn't announced the change.
Which Universal Orlando parking garage is changing?
The North garage, the one with the red, blue and yellow sections for Jurassic Park, Jaws and King Kong. Those primary colors set it apart from the South garage, which uses The Cat in the Hat, E.T. and Spider-Man, Attractions Magazine noted.
So far, nobody has reported new signs in the South garage. One oddity: E.T. now shows up on Level 2 of the North garage, even though he's been a South garage mascot. Universal hasn't said whether the South garage will change, too.
The bigger change is the layout. The old system split each garage into movie sections, so you'd jot down a spot like "Jurassic 305" or "Spider-Man 402," as Attractions Magazine put it in 2025. The new North garage signs give each floor its own theme and color instead.
What happened to the garage music?
That's the part fans will miss. Each section had its own sound. WDW News Today reported in 2024 that the garages played Kong's roar and John Williams' scores from Jurassic Park, Jaws and E.T.
Universal swapped that audio for a plain welcome spiel in May 2024, then brought the themed audio back by early June, WDWNT reported. In December 2024, Universal added digital signs with each section's icon, color and name over the walkways into both garages.
Universal hasn't said whether the new levels get their own soundtracks. If Level 1 plays Trolls music on a loop, at least people will find their cars faster.
Why are Jaws, Kong and Jurassic Park leaving?
Universal hasn't said. But the timing has been a little weird for a while:
Jaws closed at Universal Studios Florida on Jan. 2, 2012. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts took its spot. The shark kept his garage section for almost 15 more years.
King Kong goes way back. Kongfrontation opened with Universal Studios Florida in 1990 and closed in 2002. Skull Island: Reign of Kong opened at Islands of Adventure in 2016.
Jurassic Park still has plenty going on in the parks. Jurassic Park River Adventure is closed for a refurbishment that Inside Universal reported was extended through December.
Why Trolls, Shrek, Minions and Transformers?
Four of the five new themes have rides at Universal Studios Florida:
Trolls Trollercoaster opened with DreamWorks Land on June 14, 2024. DreamWorks Land replaced Woody Woodpecker's KidZone.
Minion Land opened in August 2023. It's home to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast.
Transformers: The Ride 3D opened in 2013.
E.T. Adventure has been running since opening day in 1990.
Shrek is the odd ogre out. Shrek 4-D closed Jan. 10, 2022, and Villain-Con Minion Blast took over the space. Now Shrek gets Level 3, and the Minions get the floor right above him. Rude.
How do I find my car at Universal Orlando now?
Snap a photo of the sign where you park. With the switch still underway, you may see a mix of old section names and new level themes for a few weeks.
Epic Universe works differently. It uses parking lots, and the Universal Orlando app's parking reminder lists sections named Explorer, Monster, Viking, Gamer and Hero, Attractions Magazine reported in 2025.
We'll update this story if Universal confirms the full plan for both garages, or if the shark gets a farewell tour.
