The Trojan Horse from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey left CityWalk and now stands on the Studio Tour backlot, right after the Jupiter's Claim set from Jordan Peele's Nope.
The Trojan Horse finally got inside the walls. Universal Studios Hollywood moved the 34-foot Trojan Horse from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey onto the Studio Tour, Inside Universal reported Nov. 6.
It now stands on the backlot just after the Jupiter's Claim set from Jordan Peele's Nope, so tram riders roll right past it.
The horse spent the summer at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, in front of the Universal Cinema AMC. It went up there as part of the resort's Mega Movie Summer push for the film's July 17 release. Now it has a new job as a tram stop.
Here's the Trojan Horse during its summer stop at Universal CityWalk Hollywood:
How big is the Trojan Horse at Universal Studios Hollywood?
34 feet tall. That's roughly a three-story building, parked on a studio backlot.
Inside Universal called it "the massive Trojan Horse prop" from the film but didn't list its width or weight. When crews put it together at CityWalk in June, photos showed a striped horse rearing up on a sand platform with the movie's title carved into it, AOL reported.
Fans joked at the time that it was big enough to hide an army. Nobody has checked the inside on the tram yet. Probably for the best.
Where is The Odyssey on the Studio Tour?
There are two stops now.
The Trojan Horse: On the backlot, just after the Jupiter's Claim set from Nope.
Odysseus' ship: Near Falls Lake, where parts of the movie were filmed, according to Inside Universal. It has been on the tour since the summer, and WDW News Today spotted it from the tram in July.
Theme Park Insider reported in May that The Odyssey was filmed in part on Universal's backlot, which makes the tour a fitting home for both pieces. During Mega Movie Summer, which ran June 13 through Aug. 9, the tram monitors also played behind-the-scenes footage and filmmaker interviews about the film, Secret Los Angeles reported.
When can you see the Trojan Horse on the Studio Tour?
Now. Inside Universal reported the addition Nov. 6 and didn't give an end date. Universal hasn't said how long the horse will stay on the backlot.
The Studio Tour is included with Universal Studios Hollywood admission, so there's no extra ticket. Just pick a side of the tram and hope it's the horse side.
A planning note if you're going this month: Jurassic World: The Ride is closed for refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen Nov. 21, Inside Universal's weekly update said.
When is The Odyssey back in theaters?
Dec. 11. As we reported Nov. 6, Universal is bringing The Odyssey back to theaters. Collider said the re-release will hit more than 1,000 screens, including IMAX and IMAX 70mm.
The movie also comes to digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray on Nov. 17, ComingSoon reported. It has passed $1.8 billion worldwide, according to ComingSoon.
So you can watch the movie at home, see it again in IMAX next month and wave at the horse itself from a tram. That's a lot of horse for one holiday season.
Where else did Universal put a Trojan Horse?
Hollywood's wasn't the only one. Universal Pictures sent giant horses to other cities around the film's July opening.
New York: A 40-foot wooden horse went up outside AMC Lincoln Square on the Upper West Side the weekend before the premiere, West Side Rag reported. It was part of what the studio called its Odyssey Trojan Horse Touring experience.
London: An 11-meter horse, about 36 feet, weighing more than four metric tons stood in Trafalgar Square for one day after the London world premiere, then moved outside Westfield London for four days, Media Marketing reported. A team of 45 designers, engineers, welders and set designers spent six weeks on it.
For the record, that makes Hollywood's 34-footer the smallest of those three. It's also the only one you can see from a tram.
