Marvel's VisionQuest was watched for more than 639 million minutes in its first week, per Luminate data shared online. That tops Wonder Man's one-week total.
Vision is back, and people are watching. VisionQuest racked up more than 639 million minutes of viewing time in its first week on Disney+, according to streaming data from Luminate.
The number was shared Sunday night by the Marvel Updates account on X, which credited Luminate. Luminate's full streaming reports sit behind a paywall, so we haven't seen the underlying chart ourselves. Treat it as a reported figure for now.
Still, it lines up with everything else we know about the show's start. VisionQuest debuted at No. 1 on Disney+ in the U.S. after it premiered on Oct. 14.
If you haven't caught up yet, here's the trailer:
How does VisionQuest's viewership compare to other Marvel shows?
It beats at least one recent comparison. Wonder Man spent a single week on the charts with 618 million minutes before dropping off.
At 639 million, VisionQuest's first week comes in about 21 million minutes ahead of that, and it's still early. Marvel shows often hold on for a few weeks if word of mouth is good, and the reviews have been.
Is VisionQuest good?
Critics and fans both seem to think so. The show sits at 90% with critics and 88% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
The hype was there before day one, too. Marvel's main trailer passed 23 million views before the premiere.
What is VisionQuest about?
It's Paul Bettany's return as Vision, the android Avenger last seen in WandaVision. The series picks up the white Vision storyline that WandaVision left hanging and brings Ultron back into the mix.
Bettany has gone all-in on the role. He recently said he blew out 10 blood vessels during filming, which tells you something about how intense the shoot got.
Where can you watch VisionQuest?
Only on Disney+. The series premiered Oct. 14, and the Disney+ app has the full episode list and schedule.
Need a refresher before you jump back in? Marvel put the first three episodes of WandaVision on YouTube for free earlier this fall, and the full series streams on Disney+.
What is Luminate?
It's a data company that tracks music, film and streaming. Its streaming charts measure how many minutes U.S. viewers spend watching shows and movies on services like Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video.
Streamers rarely share their own numbers, so Luminate's reports are one of the few public-facing ways to compare shows across platforms. Variety publishes its weekly charts. Nielsen tracks streaming too, but its numbers usually land about four weeks after the fact, so Luminate's figures tend to be the first real read on a new show.
Why are streaming hits measured in minutes?
Because minutes are the one thing every show has in common. A long series with lots of episodes can pile up more minutes than a short one, even if fewer people watch it, so minutes aren't a perfect head count.
They're still useful for comparing shows in the same week. And for a single Marvel series in its first seven days, 639 million minutes is a strong start. That's more than 10 million hours of Vision in a single week.
What's next for Marvel on Disney+?
More Marvel, of course. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters Dec. 18, with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and Disney+ subscribers can enter a sweepstakes for a trip to its premiere through Nov. 19.
If VisionQuest keeps this pace, expect it to stay near the top of the Disney+ charts all the way to the holidays.
