Starbucks’ Black Cat Frappuccino lands Thursday, and gluten-free Ritz crackers are at Walmart. Plus, Oreo is dropping just 1,000 packs of a new flavor.
It’s a busy week for food news, and a lot of it is cheap, seasonal or both.
Here are seven new things to know about, from fast food combos to a cracker a lot of people have waited years for. Prices and availability can vary by location.
What’s in Wendy’s $7.99 Dave’s Single combo?
A Dave’s Single, a small order of Hot and Crispy Fries and a small soft drink, all for $7.99, Sporked reported.
The deal started Oct. 19 and is a limited-time offer at participating Wendy’s restaurants. You can get it in person, in the drive-thru or online.
Wendy’s said the combo “proves fans don’t have to choose between quality and value,” according to Sporked. Some fans on Reddit weren’t sold, saying it still costs too much.
What’s on Whataburger’s holiday menu?
Four limited-time items, starting Oct. 20, Whataburger announced:
The Bacon Blaze Jalapeno Double is back, from $9.99, or $7.99 for the Jr. size.
The new Bacon Blaze Chicken, grilled or Whatachick’n, starts at $7.99.
The new Sleigh Berry Whatafresher, with cranberry and citrus, starts at $3.69.
The White Chocolate Raspberry Shake starts at $3.99.
“Guests are looking for more variety from restaurant menus,” said Whataburger corporate chef James Sanchez. The shake is meant to taste like white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, the chain said.
What is Costco’s new Apple Pie Sundae?
Basically apple pie a la mode in a cup. It’s vanilla soft serve topped with pie crust pieces and apple pie filling, for $2.99, The Takeout reported.
It showed up at Costco food courts in mid-October. Fans online loved the look of it, though some said it needs caramel or a churro on the side.
Heads up: it’s about 750 calories, according to The Takeout.
Costco also added a Mixed Berry Smoothie that’s different from its older berry smoothies, Sporked reported. It may be in only some warehouses for now. Costco rarely announces new food court items, Sporked noted, so it’s unclear how long either will last.
Is McDonald’s testing a Frozen Sprite White Peach?
Yes. A Frozen Sprite White Peach is showing up at select McDonald’s restaurants, Sporked reported, citing fan accounts @markie_devo and @SodaSeekers.
A national rollout is expected in spring 2027. If you want to try it early, check the McDonald’s app for your local restaurant, Sporked suggested.
Sporked said it sounds a lot like last summer’s Red Bull White Peach, just with less caffeine.
How do you get Oreo’s new espresso Oreo Thins?
You’ll have to be fast. Oreo is making just 1,000 packs of an espresso-flavored Oreo Thins, Sporked reported.
Sign up on Oreo’s website from Oct. 20 through Nov. 3. On Nov. 4, Oreo will email out redemption codes, and the first 1,000 people to redeem get a pack.
The cookies are free. You just pay $2.99 for shipping, according to Sporked.
Are Ritz crackers gluten-free now?
A new version is. Ritz Gluten Free crackers are coming to Walmart and Albertsons stores this month, Sporked reported.
They’ll be in stores nationwide in February 2027. An 8-ounce box has a suggested price of $4.49.
They’re the classic Original flavor. A Reddit user posted what they said was the label, showing cornstarch, corn flour and faba bean protein, Sporked said. Check the box if you have other food allergies.
When does Starbucks’ Black Cat Frappuccino come out?
Thursday, Oct. 22, at U.S. Starbucks stores, Dexerto reported. It’s a chocolate cake-flavored Creme Frappuccino with whipped cream and chocolate cat ears on top.
PNP first reported the drink in September. Starbucks Japan has its own purple version with blackberry and yogurt.
Starbucks’ Halloween merch is out, too, including a $19.95 pumpkin mug with a black cat peeking in, according to Dexerto.
That’s a lot to try before Halloween. Maybe start with the free cookies and work your way up.
