EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion is seeing refurbishment work across the area, including roofing and work on the Train Garden.
The other active project has been running quietly since summer.
Walt Disney World installed scaffolding, rolling planters and scrim fabric around the Germany Pavilion starting in June. Disney filed a permit for general construction listing a third-party roofing company.
Roof work began July 28. The pavilion’s red shingles have come off the slanted roof and at least one tower above Das Kaufhaus, replaced with brown scrim.
Several other roofs in the area show rot, aging, and sun fading, so the work may extend.
The pavilion restrooms are closed behind a construction wall. Volkskunst is closed, and Der Teddybar was closed and has since reopened, with the Kidcot station relocated inside near the registers.
Imagineers built a tiny construction site in the train garden
The Germany Train Garden, the miniature village in the flowerbed outside the pavilion, is also being refurbished by Walt Disney Imagineering, working with the Engineering Services Art Prep team.
Among the additions: a small construction site, complete with its own miniature wall reading “Please pardon our pixie dust: This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”
A tiny construction project, inside a miniature village, while the actual pavilion around it is under construction.
Imagineers also added a Snow White cottage, repainted the town square buildings, replaced a large house with a clock tower and archways modeled on the real Biergarten entrance, and installed tiny planters and a small version of the pavilion’s fountain.
There is even a mini EPCOT Food and Wine Festival complete with the trash cans!
A small Dreamfinder is also exciting guests.
Attractions Magazine has a video of the new additions on YouTube.
If you get a chance to stop and see this often overlooked display, make sure you do.
