Both big releases are heading to streaming, and people are searching hard for the dates. One is confirmed for September 2, the other for September 23.
Four of this week’s fastest-rising Disney searches are people asking the same two questions.
“When will Toy Story 5 be on Disney plus” rose 80 percent. “When will Mandalorian and Grogu be on Disney plus” rose 50 percent, with a second phrasing of the same question up 40 percent and “Toy Story 5 on Disney plus” up another 40.
Here are the answers.
When Toy Story 5 comes to Disney+
Disney confirmed Toy Story 5 arrives on Disney+ on September 23.
The film earned more than $1 billion worldwide, finishing at roughly $1.07 billion, making it the top-grossing entry in the franchise. It has continued playing in theaters well past its opening, which is part of why the streaming window ran as long as it did.
When The Mandalorian and Grogu comes to Disney+
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives on Disney+ on September 2.
It lands alongside two other releases the same day: an animated LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian special retelling all three seasons of the series, and an official podcast.
The film was Star Wars’ first theatrical release since 2019 and finished around $345 million worldwide. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro acknowledged on the company’s August earnings call that it fell short of box office expectations.
Why the streaming windows are this long
Both films held theatrical runs longer than recent Disney releases.
Toy Story 5 opened in the spring and stayed in the top ten for months on the strength of family repeat viewing, which is the category that keeps a film in theaters.
The Mandalorian and Grogu opened in May. A roughly three-month gap to streaming is close to the current industry standard for a wide release.
Disney has generally been extending theatrical windows rather than shortening them, after several years of compressing them during the streaming build-out.
What else is coming to Disney+ this fall
The September through January slate is unusually dense.
VisionQuest premieres October 14, closing the WandaVision trilogy with Paul Bettany and James Spader as Ultron.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians returns for its third season on November 20.
Ahsoka Season 2 arrives January 20, with Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen returning and Rory McCann joining as Baylan Skoll.
Disney has also published its full September lineups for the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
How much Disney+ costs right now
Worth knowing if you are subscribing to catch these.
Disney is raising its legacy Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle from $24.99 to $27.99 on September 17, affecting subscribers who enrolled before August 20.
Current plans sit higher. The ad-supported Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Select bundle runs $20, and the ad-free version runs $30, following increases in October 2025.
The legacy bundle still costs less than the current ad-free equivalent even after the September increase.
Both films will be included with any Disney+ plan, with no additional purchase required.
